In short: The Only Way Is Essex
In full: Over the moon to set a new PB in what is my 6th marathon and my first Halstead. PBs are possible but it is not flat. Organisation brilliant and friendly and a goody bag obviously selected BY runners FOR runners which is great. Put's the VLM one to shame

In short: Great Marathon that deserves respect - Beginners beware!
In full: Marathon is held in a lovely part of the world, the facilities and organisation is top drawer and is hosted with a warm friendly manner. The route is quite tough in my opinion being that it does undulate quite a bit and as its on a loop you have to be prepared mentally for seeing the later mile markers on your first loop! But if you set out to do a negative split race and maybe some hill training you will have a great run.

In short: Best race by miles!
In full: Having completed a number of organised half marathons prior to this, I can safely say this was the best organised, most welcoming, friendly race I've ever taken part in. From the smiling, encouraging marshalls, to the villagers out supporting the runners, to the runners themselves everything about this race was great.

In short: A gem of a race
In full: What to say that hasn't been said. Organisation - like clockwork, plentiful water and sponge stations all manned by supportive people, marshals - by far the most encouraging I've encountered for a long time, hills - frequent :) excellent medal and technical T-shirt and a goody bag full of things you actually WANT to eat! I'll be back next year for it's 20th anniversary run. Well done HRR.

In short: Great organisation and support
In full: The marshalls were absolutely fantastic and there were so many of them. The crossover at the pub (pass it 4 times) was unbelieveable in terms of atmosphere. I do hate mile 25 - 26, especially as someone turned on a wind machine at the start of the grassy hill and across the meadow. I won't do it again only beacuse it's my last marathon anbd certainly not because of the event which is a proper gem. I was lucky enough to win a prize and those were of top quality too as were the good bags which were actually full of goodies unlike many other races. The race t-shirt is also fab.

In short: Excellent organisation hard course support was amazing
In full: Great race would do it again even though on some of the many ups I questioned why I was doing this marshals and supporters along the route were great goody bag t shirt added to what can only be described as an excellent end to a memorable race

In short: Lovely but lumpy
In full: My first marathon and I loved every minute of it, well almost. Beautiful course, well organised and the marshalls at the end were brilliant. With a race like that on my door step there's really no excuse not to enter next year.

In short: If Carlsberg did Races....
In full: Another great race from the Halstead team. This race is how a medium sized club organised race should be done. It has everything, great HQ, playful course to keep you interested, smooth organisation, some of the best water stations and marshals around, great scenery and good medal, tech shirt and goody bag.

Little to improve upon - apart from that 400 meters of grass at mile 26 :-)

In short: Fun course, brilliant marshals, fab organisation
In full: It's like a mini local carnival everyone comes out to support. I got a 18 minute pb despite the undulating course, so very happy- country lanes mean minimal pollution which is great for the lungs when running for so long! Superb and proud to have such a great race so close to home
