In short: Views over 5 counties!
In full: I thought I could see the Angel of the North at one point!?

The whole (postcard) village seem to contribute to this event. Excellent signage and no problem with the distance from the base to the car parks (a mile). Excellent officials and plenty for the family to do while they wait (park and shops open).

The run was a tough one; don`t think I`ve felt that tired after just 3 miles of running, and then you realise that you`ve another 10 to do! I`d like to see my splits as I suspect they ranged from sub 7 m/m to 10 or 11s! 3 slow, 7 quick and then another slow 3 at the end.

An achievement just to finish this one and I`m just glad that the weather was so kind today!

In short: Hilly, pretty and fun
In full: LOve this scenic race. The hills are a killer and wish I'd done alittle more hill training but the support around the course and views take your mind off it all.More water stops than expected but as the weather is so unpredictable, was well planned as it would have been needed if warm . Will be back

In short: Not for the faint hearted, but well worth doing.
In full: I ran the Eyam half for the 1st time in 2011 and really enjoyed the race. Crossed the line in 1:26:19 for 7th place which I was well pleased with, but it wasn't easy.

Firstly, the hills in and around Eyam are extremely steep. Thankfully, the longest ascent is dealt with after about 1 mile, but there are several short, sharp climbs throughout the course which really put a strain on your legs. Admittedly, all of those ascents are made up for by several fast, steep down-hill sections (particularly he last mile - fantastic!) but overall it is a very tough course.

The organisation and marshalling was 1st class, and the setting was very nice. A turnout of around 450 runners this year meant that it wasn't too hard to find a parking space and traffic on the way out was minimal.

If you are considering running this race, then I would highly recommend putting in a good few hours worth of hill reps in the weeks leading up to it, as this will definitely pay dividends!
