In short: As good as ever In full: The fact this was my 6th time at this race says it all really. Well organised, good atmosphere and a fair course make this a lovely small village race and a credit to Reading Road Runners. The course is quick, just a couple of minor uphill drags but nothing too drastic, although the woodchip section in the 9th km was hard work, but definitely preferable to running through the mud bath I would assume would have been there without it. Set a new PB, the 4th time I've done it at Shinfeld, so see you next year. Date of review: May 7, 2012
In short: A nice day out In full: As always, an efficient job by Reading Roadrunners. The course is fast but a little congested at the start for midpackers like me. Good facilities, good atmosphere, somewhere to stow baggage, well-organized event. I would have preferred a medal to a mug but that's a matter of taste. I'll be back next year. In short: There is no single thing that makes this race stand out but, as a package, it's excellent. In full: I thoroughly enjoyed this run (and not just because it's 1 mile from my house!). The organisation was good, the route was pretty scenic (especially when you consider the fact that it's only just outside Reading). The stewards were helpful and encouraging, and the local support was good.
My 7 year old enjoyed the kids' race and fully appreciated the fact that he got a medal even though he (i mean, i) arrived too late for registration - thankyou!
The kids also enjoyed the May Day fete so, all in all, an enjoyable morning.
Less wind next year, please! Date of review: May 3, 2011
In short: A lovely race, I was just very slow today for this one In full: A lovely organised race. Locals cheering all the time. Just a shame too many in the way listening to music... This probably does not happen at the front of the field Date of review: May 2, 2011
In short: nice , well organised race In full: A BIT BLUSTERY, BUT A NICE TRIP AROUND LOCAL VILLAGES ON QUITE ROADS AND TRACKS WITH NO SERIOUS HILLS. FETE, GOOD TEAS AND GREAT ATMOSPHERE Date of review: May 2, 2011
In short: My first race, shame about the wind! In full: This was my first race and the course is quite good, there are a couple of challenging hills! Would be better if the traffic could have been stopped on some more of the roads. Date of review: May 2, 2011
In short: Well Done Reading Road Runners In full: 1st Time for this one. Would pay extra for chip timing as I was near the back at the start. Course is great. Will fantastic support and great marshals. Date of review: May 2, 2011
In short: 6th Running, Love it. In full: My 6th running of the race that started it all off for me - Ran a massive PB of 39.11 so chuffed to bits - a hard wind today but clockwork organisation. I'd pay a little more for chip timing, but a great event. Date of review: May 2, 2011
In short: As good as ever In full: My 5th time I think running this one, and it was just as good as it ever was. My only minor gripe would be the incorrectly placed 4k marker - I'll bet the instructions said to put it on the junction, and they did, but one junction too early! Apart from that everything went really smoothly. Pity about the heat and the wind that I think was even stronger than last year, as on the right day this course definitely has potential to be a fast one. Thank you Reading Road Runners - see you next year. Date of review: May 2, 2011
