In short: another great day In full: my second GNR and even managed a PB!! as others as said the starting pens were crowded and I had to forced my way in but other than that everything was clockwork - was lucky enough to have a VIP pass to get to see and meet the elites and celebs at the end - well worth the trip from essex! In short: Great event badly spoiled this year by poorly organised starting 'pens' In full: My 4th GNR... organisers have changed starting arrangements so you can only enter your 'start pen' according to bib colour. I can see why they've done this (try to put a bit more disciplne into the start, so runners are split up according to their predicted time... always a problem with previous GNRs), However... the new system is a mess - many of us weren't allowed into their pen since the 'bouncers' shut the gate on us(!!) forcing us to walk back a few hundred yards to the next entry. Organisers: please sort this out for next year (more entry points)or you'll lose our goodwill and money! Date of review: October 7, 2006

In short: Already booked my hotel for next year In full: It's a harder course than people give it credit so if you think you might be challenged be honest and go for a slower time than you'd like. This was my second GNR and I'm faster than last year but it's still a tough course, especially with the amount of people taking part. Well worth it though, it's why I'll keep coming back for more pain and punishment :) Date of review: October 7, 2006

In short: 1st time back since 1999, will not wait so long again before returning. In full: I would like to thank all the road side supports who generated an excellent atmosphere. Course not set up for PB, i found it tough going between 10-12 miles. Colour/Pen starts great, although toilets towards the front would help. Apologies to all my fellow runners around me just before the start!!!!!! Date of review: October 7, 2006

In short: new numbering was better, pens good but not if you need a last minute toilet trip! In full: This was my 5th great north, and the best yet. The start was much improved;water given out especially as it was a hot October day.The pens worked, making start time-crossing the start time less, last year it was 18mins before i crossed the start. Hopefully be back next year, support is fantastic along the way- people handing out all sorts of goodies. Date of review: October 6, 2006
