In short: Very well organised despite dodgy "energy" drinks
In full: My 6th consecutive GNR and my fastest and most enjoyable ever. I have run The London Marathon twice and other major races and this has to be the best organised I have ever experienced.

My only spat with this year's event was the revolting Powerade Zero given out as an "energy" drink on the course. It is zero calorie, aspartame laced rubbish that made me feel sick. Given the amount of partially drunk, discarded bottles at the roadside, I wasn't the only runner to feel this way!

In short: Knocked 6 minutes off last year. 2hrs 11!
In full: Still an amazing race. A lot cooler than last year which helped. More loos needed at the start would be my only criticism.

In short: Iconic Event for a reason!
In full: I have never known any event carry such a spine tingling atmosphere. This is a unique running experience and everybody has to do it at least once. The route is tougher than you would expect for such a beginner friendly run, so beware if chasing a PB: this course will hurt!

Well done to all those that helped organise the whole thing and a big well done to all those that completed the race !

In short: My First Ever HM And I was realistic with my race time
In full: This was my first ever half marathon and as much a personal challenge as anything. I am so glad I chose this race for my first ever event. And I am also glad I selected I realistic time to run it in, back in block K (pink zone) or some 1km behind Haile Gebrselassie or 35 minutes after the race start.

Completed in 2.37 which was the time I had hoped for. I didnt know when I applied what standard I would get up to in training, and sadly with an injury 6 weeks before the run its a time I am proud of.

To new runners, be honest with the time, enjoy the experience and do the training. An amazing atmosphere and the people of the north east are an amazing bunch of supporters to keep you going.

In short: Very emotional to see all these people raising money for charity
In full: Got to the race start really early and spent 2.5hrs looking at people's costumes. Was overwhelmed by the size of the who thing. Really good atmosphere. For once there were plenty of toilets (which is not the case at some other races I have been to) and even some loo paper! Very emotional to see everyone was running for charity and in some cases in memory of someone. Didn't manage a PB and I was surprised by the hilliness of the terrain. Was mumbling under by breath during the last 2 miles (they were killers) and only managed the last 800m by sheer gritting of teeth. Pity about the weather and especially the rain at the end. Wasn't much fun for those waiting at the finish line. Hope to be back next year and in costume!

In short: Fantastic atmosphere made 13.1 mile go very quickly enjoyable instead of painfull
In full: My first time at this event and i would love to become a regular. From the start i felt part of something special from showing great respect to Troops in wheel of stell race which was very emotional to joining in the race warm up. The run seemed to go very quickly which was mainly down to the spectators cheering you on and the cheering zones and constant music playing. Even on quiet parts of the run we passed the time with choruses of "hoggy hoggy hoggy" "oi oi oi".I was very pleased with my time of 2 hours 11 mins just 4 mins outside my personal best. The only downside i can think off was that i took me longer to get from the finish line to the ferry and on the ferry than it did to run the race.I can appreciate this though considering the amount of people there but it was hard to take for my wife who came to watch. We stayed in Whitley Bay and had a great weekend travelling about on Metro so did not need the car once we were at digs.
Overall i had a fantastic time and would return every year if i get the chance.
