In short: What Hill?! In full: Decent race and good organisation. 1st 2K starts off on a climb but not too bad. This is followed by a couple of 2K loops with narrow roads. On this part of the course you get 2 oppurtunities for water. You also get to lap people who are supposed to be on the right! Hmmm.
With the loop out of the way you make your way back home, with the well advertised hill around 7.5K in which lasts for around 1.5 K ish. To be fair its not the worst hill in the world and ive seen and done a lot worse (Cobra Classic) recently.
With the hill out of the way you get the chance for a downhill dash for the final 1.2K with the finish in Sanders Park. At the finish you get a medal and a bottle of water (hurrah, no dodgy T-Shirt!)
All in all quality race, the only suggestion would be, is to introduce a timing chip!
In short: Great local race!! Worth giving it a go!! In full: Started on time - which is fantastic!!! Very well organised! The water station was fine where it was - twice round the loop! Great atmosphere finishing in the park - it kept family entertained whilst waiting! Great! Thanks to everyone involved! Date of review: July 5, 2009
In short: Horrible last hill before finish! In full: Very scenic run. Hills not too bad going towards top of hill. Nice pleasing laps at top. But one hell of a hill the last 2km from end. I ended up walking up it. Also 25 degree heat. Heat + Hill no joy!! Date of review: June 30, 2009
In short: It's been said before, but I'll say it again - Hilly! In full: Really enjoyable morning. A 10am start might have been preferable in the heat. Linking the event to the carnival is a great idea and gives the spectators something to do (and runners once finished). Good support at the finish and great organisation throughout the event.
The course has been described in detail below, but to summarise, the nasty hills are at the end of the loop (so you have to do this twice) and then at around 8km. The last one seems to go on forever. The trek back across the park is flat but seems to take longer than expected! Date of review: June 30, 2009
In short: Excellent folk on this one, full of encouragement on the hills In full: Great atmosphere, my 7 year old loved getting his medal for the childrens challange. He now wants to do more running. 10k was challanging but great fun trying to get over that hill at the end without stopping. Date of review: June 30, 2009
