In full: I like this race and it has my PB 73 mins. But what happenened this year? I and another runner from my Club thought that moving the start and finish would mean a full 10 mile run so how come it was so short? I wanted 75 mins today but injury pervented this and I finished in 78 mins so that was ok. I will come back tho

In short: In two minds?
In full: Although the short course was a let down, I actually really enjoyed this race, thanks to my Garmin I knew the course was short and so once I crossed the finish line I kept going till 10miles so no big deal, the marshalls were great all around the course, the route was fine and the school facilities did the job, overall for £8 the race did the job, nicely organised and well surported.

In short: Our club name is S.E.S runners, the 1st S is for Sidcup, so we had to do it. GREAT
In full: Facilities were great, parking bril. Okay - 3 laps did get a bit tedious, but I was almost done in (going for a PB) so I wasn't too bothered that I'd seen all there was to see again. Glad the weather held off. There is the issue of the course being short but if it was approved, perhaps all the Garmins were "pinging" off the same satellites, which may have measured short (long shot I know) BUT I am happy to put down a PB of 1.16. Max respect to all the marshals who were full of support and encouragement. That made me feel good. I was a bit miffed that there wasn't a more adequate drinks station at the end with fruit and / or a goodie bag. All I got was 1/3 cup of water! I wonder if the route could be put through the park by the church so as to break up the pavement pounding. Overall, the Sidcup.Erect**n.Section (SES runners) all did PB's and had a slap up fry-up afterwards.

In short: Cheated - Very Short!
In full: Done this many times before but will have to think long and hard before returning. Feel cheated by the very short course. It has always been a quick course but to make it 9.7m is very disappointing. Please can we have the additional 0.3m back please!

In short: Enjoyable race ... and very local for me! :-)
In full: I was really pleased with my performance especially when I noted that I'd knocked 5 minutes off my PB and got it down to 1:21! Imagine my disappointment when I read it was 1/4 mile short! However, it would still have been a PB for me, so I'm still happy about that!

Marshalls were jolly and supportive. I've got nicer medals, but it's another one to the collection!

Overall, I enjoyed this race and I'm pleased I did it!

In short: Short course.
In full: Drove a long long way to do this race. If you got a PB like I did, it doesnt count. Short by a quarter of a mile!! Thats a discrace in anyones eyes! And the medal was the cherry on the cake!

In short: Dull-ish course, but good atmosphere
In full: Well marshalled and enjoyable race.
That said, having seen the comment below I'm a bit concerned about the distance. My GPS also measured it to be about a quarter mile short, but I had assumed that was the device, since the race website says it is an SEAA certified exact distance.

In short: 'No-frills race' is bang on the money
In full: Agree with pretty much everything SilkTork says. Especially about the mug in the VW bowling for runners. Note to all: when I come to power, buying a German car will be an automatic six points on your licence. I know there'll be some good drivers get stung wby that, but the overall picture on Britain's roads will be greatly improved as a result. Vote Dan, vote opinions.

Scenery was no better than expected and not improved by seeing it all three times, but not terrible either. I really enjoyed the race itself mainly because of the atmosphere - it was a lot less iPoddy than a lot I've been to, so there was a chance for a few snatched words here and there out on the course. That doesn't sound like much, but it gives you a pick up when you've just been up an incline.

Flat course, fast - a lot of people are querying the measurement. They did say the course had been specially remeasured for this year, so I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt.

In short: Hello church. Hello church. Hello church...
In full: Overall this is a decent enough race. No frills, no extras - no goodie bag or fruit or bottled water or t-shirt, and a very cheap medal - but it does the job.

The school building provides decent facilities with changing rooms, a little cafe, and tables and chairs to sit around and chat in the warm before the race.

There's a good mix of runners of all abilities, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere, with people happy to chat, or offer a word of support when passing or being passed.

The scenery is OK - it's not exciting or beautiful, but it's not ugly. It's the pleasant suburban streets of Sidcup on a lazy Sunday morning, and it passes quietly by. The laps are big enough to not be monotonous, though there are few landmarks to look forward to. The highlight is the church and a few shops clustered around a closed cinema. You get to look forward to that....

The marshals are solid, friendly and supportive - giving encouragement to runners, and keeping control of the traffic with few incidents. There was a hot-headed youngster in some cheap small car near the start who got impatient and was revving and then drove madly and dangerously on the wrong side of the road to overtake the runners, and pulled in to the crowd of runners with a lack of care that could have resulted in injuries or deaths. The marshal near that incident was told off by another marshal for allowing the idiot to keep on driving, but there was nothing he could do, and marshals are not empowered to stop cars. But that incident did reveal that the organisers should rethink allowing runners to use the road at the start. If they want to use the road they should get the police to block off the road for the first 10 minutes. I accept this might increase the cost, but runners do get hit by cars, and it's best avoided if possible.

There were useful and fairly accurate markers along the route, though the mile 2 marker was too soon.

The route is not completely flat. It does incline in places, and has a couple of slopes. The Thames Towpath Ten is flatter. However, it was flat enough for me to get a PB of 1.35.48, so I'm pleased.
