In short: Fantastic, best organised race I've ever run
In full: Hats off for organising a fantastic event, everything about this race was brilliant. Excellent pre-race instructions, great race village, loads of toilets, well-organised start, brilliant marshalling, superb course, great medal at the well-organised finish. Well done to all involved - even if I don't do the marathon next year I'll try to get back for the half.

In short: Excellent organisation. Marshals, spectators and people manning the drinks stations were very supportive. The first half of the race has a few hills, the second half is flat. The medal was excellent. I'll be back next year.

In short: Ver well organised event which I really enjoyed. My only gripe was the price which was not reflected in the goody bag!

In full: Generally a well-run, enjoyable race, but I have the same pleas as most Marathoners - please change the 2nd half. Its soul-destroying when its windy around the lake. Also can the organisers restrict cycling access on the towpath (miles 21-24) - its when most runners start to suffer and wobble and its frustrating when inconsiderate cyclists keep barging you out of the way. Also, can the organisers look at other local races which provide great goodie bags for a £10 entry - Robin Hood aint cheap and has loads of sponsors - please try to provide runners with a proper memory of the race next year. Its only a few years ago when you got a Panel of Nottingham Lace as you crossed the line - its still on my wall as a memento of my 1st Marathon

In short: Excellent
In full: I thought this was an excellent race. The organisation was amongst the best I've seen. The course was quite varied - quite urban, moderately hilly and challenging for the first half marathon, then flatter and more rural for the second half, but scenic and pleasant throughout. Fantastic support, probably the best supported race I've seen so far. Drink stations well equipped and managed. If I had to make any criticisms - and it would be difficult - I would point to the fairly dispiriting and very windy loop around the rowing lake from miles 20 to 22 and the diminished atmosphere at the end of the full marathon due to the vast majority of spectators having left after their runners finished the half marathon. Not sure what you do about the latter - start the half a bit later maybe, so half/full finish a bit closer together? Minor gripes though, would definitely do this again.

In short: Excellent marathon
In full: This was my first. Despite my time being 35 off my goal I really enjoyed it. 1st half much better than 2nd though. Everyone was so helpful and motivational. Special thanks to everyone who stayed out in the rain at the watersports centre. Windy tough 2nd half.

In short: Frustrating Race but...
In full: This is my 6th go at the Robin Hood Marathon. I usually enjoy it. The crowds are supportive, the first half of the marathon is around the best parts of the city and it is quite a scenic city, Nottingham.

The second half, is always the same. I think the marathon runners get a raw deal, really. The real killer is Holme Pierrepont, which is the watersports centre. It's basically a lap of that. There's no cover and the headwinds make running very difficult.
I've emailed the organisers a few times about changing just that bit, as I know a lot of other people hate it as well. We'll have to see.
The goody bag was hopeless. A pack of crisps, a few adverts, some cloths and some toothpaste.
The medal was good, though.

So in summary, a fine race and thank you to the organisers but please change the course a bit and put some flapjacks in the goody bag!

In short: My first full marathon
In full: Despite having a personal nightmare of a race (a full 35 minutes off what I expected due to chronic cramp, hamstring, knee and ankle problems), I have to give massive praise to the organisers for running this like clockwork, plenty of water, sports drinks, gels and a good course (the lake possibly an exception!) and great sports village too. Great support from the public.

I will come back to do the half marathon in future but that's just personal preference of distance.
