In short: Second time at Nottingham and enjoyed it could of done with out the wind but i just do not like wind conditions In full: Once again thank you for a great race and weekend it is one hard course but a must for any one who has a couple of 1/2marathons under ther belt don't think i could ever do the full marathon at Nottingham as ican not run another yard let alone that distance again. Thanks to all the marshalls St Johns ambulance police and spectators who made it a good event will be back next year thank and well done Nottingham Date of review: September 20, 2007
In short: Good full and half courses - but very different after the split In full: First mararthon and I'm sure to do it again - if only to beat the time. The very rough surface near Holmepierre pont hall was a pain but manageable. Good drinks stations, marshalls and support. Date of review: September 20, 2007
In short: Second half was tough! In full: The race was good, well organised and I had a fast first half. The second half, there were no people around - crowds or runners, and I found it a lot harder, especially running up and down that lake into a strong headwind numerous times. Then lots of hairpin bends/ tight corners at the end. Had a good sprint finish on the grass though which was great!
My best time for a marathon yet, only my second one run though. Date of review: September 20, 2007
In short: Good Fun Race! In full: Half marathon was good fun, with plenty of parkland scenery. Well-organised and welcoming. I did feel sorry for the marathon runners at the halfway point! Some of them were looking distinctly knackered as I passed the HM finish! Date of review: September 20, 2007
In short: Hassle free, very well organised. In full: My first half and enjoyed it thoroughly. Varied course through City Centre, University campus, residential streets and parkland. I was a bit apprehensive about the hills as I do all my running on the flat but they were very manageable. Plenty of water and Lucozade available en route and I thought the post-finish organisation was excellent - chip removed, goody bag, medal and foil cape etc all sorted out in about 30 seconds.
Thanks to everyone involved Date of review: September 20, 2007
In short: race of two halves, but well worth the money In full: This was my first marathon. First half is excellent, hills not too long or severe. Crowds excellent. Marsalls excellent. I thought the second half was OK, a little lonely but that's ok. I was blown away by the lake section like everyone else, but I say keep it - it's meant to be tough right? When I do it next year I'll be prepared for it - once your round the lake you've cracked it. Well done and thanks to all involved. Date of review: September 20, 2007
In short: Very well organised event - great first half to the race, but second half not good. Pot holes and long slogs, and teadious 4 miles slog around a lake, strong headwind to deal with and very little by way of support until near the very end. In full: If the second half was as scenic and interesting as the first half this would be a great marathon to run. Drinks stations a plenty and gels to boot! May be back next year - still undecided. In short: A professionally organised big city race In full: My 1st marathon which will live long in memory. Great first half, nothing too demanding, liked the trip through Woollaton park- scenic and great support, saw no deers though. Then a soul destroying 2nd half- wheels came off at 21- agree about comment of pothole road at 17 mile, not needed when you are tired- and that rowing lake; enough said! And the dogleg at 25-26 mile, what the .. Still loved my medal and plenty of water stations and energy drinks. Family loved the lincolnshire sausages on offer and parking was easy and hassle free.
