In short: if you only ever do one marathon do this one In full: brilliant organisation and so friendly. Luckily had very good weather this year which really helped. It's definately a tough course but the sense of acheivment when you cross that finish line is indescribable. Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: Superb race in every way! In full: The scenery and the hills set this race apart from other road marathons.
The hills are tough but all apart from the last one, which unless your a mountain goat is quicker to power walk up, are runnable with enough training in the legs. However, the final mile or so of descent back into Llanberis was an absolute killer, the terrain and gradient had my legs screaming for mercy. However, this was all forgotten when you turn the final corner and are roared home by the locals.
The organisation was great, slick friendly registration, great smiley, vocal marshals and volunteers at the feed stations. Water in bottles huge bonus!
Will definitely be back for 2013 Real sense of achievement on completing the course. Can see why this is rated so highly, it most certainly deserves the titles of 'most beautiful' and 'toughest'.
Only negative is in total agreement with a previous comment about the discarding of litter by a tiny minority of runners. There were bins, there were supporters to give your rubbish to if you couldn't carry it. The organisers are very proud to be a green marathon, should have been respected by all. In short: Special race, different from your average road marathon In full: Weather was as good as you could expect. The usual cliche about a marathon being 20 mile warm up then 6 miles of struggle doesn't really do Snowdonia marathon justice. After 21 miles, the last 5 are brutal, with 3 up then no let up on the last 2 down because it's so steep. No frills event, but organisation and support were excellent. Liked the child at around half way with a huge tray of jelly babies - sorted by colour! Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: Excellent In full: As I sit here eating a mars bar, bag of cheese and onion crips and drinking a can of coke it makes up for the fact my legs are still not speaking to me after posting a sub 4hrs in my first Snowdon marathon. I've done a few VLM but will never do a big city race after doing this. The views, the route, the support, the organisation and the camaraderie were magnificent and this shows why it is the best marathon in the country. Registration was effortless, the (small) expo was good value with no sales pressure, the T-shirt good quality.Race day itself we just rocked up at 10am (no pens or 2hrs get there for a warm up lark) walked to the start and were off, no crowding, friendly and plentiful drink stations, enjoyed running through the traffic in Beddgelert and an excellent eye watering final 1.5mile descent into Llanberis for a warm hearted welcome. The nice slate coaster and a cup of coffee were well received. I will be back in 2013!!! Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: I did it!! In full: I dropped out last year @ 11.5 miles, so was chuffed that I chugged to the end. A brilliant race and well worth completing. Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: My first Snowdonia marathon but not my last! In full: What a fantastic day for a marathon in Snowdonia - the views were amazing! The hardest marathon I have done by far - but that what makes it so rewarding to finish - that cup of coffee at the end was just what I needed! Don't think I got the proper Snowdonia experience though as it wasn't wet and horrible, so I'll be back next year, it can't be that nice two years running! Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: Beautiful but brutal In full: The weather was kind for my first running of the Snowdonia Marathon, and the views were exceptional. The climbs are challenging, and anyone who ran the final climb has my utmost respect! After the first big downhill my legs were already starting to hurt, but nursed them through to the end and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Good support, especially at the finish in Llanberis. Hope to be back next year. Date of review: October 29, 2012
