In short: Good race to blow the cobwebs away. Not for the feint hearted.
In full: Quite a surprise that this event took place given the weather conditions the day before. However the sun made an appearance which allowed the temperature to rise to acceptable levels, making an enjoyable race. People should adjust their gear according to the likly conditions underfoot! Road shoes just dont cut it on snow / ice. .

In short: A first race!! Am I mad??
In full: This was my first ever race and to say I've been working hard at training is an understatement. However, no matter how hard I trained, I dont think it would have prepared me enough for the hills! Oooh don't I ever ache today. BUT, the location is gorgeous, I love Longleat anyway and the atmosphere was fab. I was exceptionally uplifted on the final straight, running towards Longleat house and the finish line in the sunshine made me run faster than I ever have before! A lovely day and a fab run.... but next year I know what to expect :)

In short: the hills will make you hurt!
In full: Glorious setting, and lovely route not at all dull even though you do run the same small section of it twice. Ran past deer and spotted a heron flying overhead, very picturesque

Hills are an absolute killer though! Proud to have run the whole thing even though at times trying to scrabble up the icy, snow covered first hill would probably have been quicker if i'd walked!

Once you get past 8k you knwo it's down hill and home all the way and that is a lovely way to end a race.

Nice goody bag, lion head medal, and yummy banana recovery drink, also really enjoyed the free sample of muscle rub which I duly applied!

Would do again, if only to see if I can better my time (1hr2mins) but wouldn't recommend as a 1st 10k, maybe 3rd or 4th would be better

In short: Snow and hills on safari
In full: A nice course looping through Longleat, glorious final straight running towards the mansion - if only all races had such a fabulous view (and a nice downhill section to launch you onto the final straight).

There were good facilities, enough portaloos for runners (I really don't understand the criticism about the toilets, have any of you BEEN to events before?!). There wasn't very much for spectators to do but to be fair to 2:09, it was mentioned in all the race information and on the website before entering that Longleat was closed that weekend. I'd much rather that the organisers spent time getting it right for the runners instead of worrying about spectators being entertained.

I'm glad it wasn't just me who had trouble with the hill at 1km and 8km, I had to walk up the steepest part as my trainers were not equipped for ice. A bit of extra grit would have been nice, but the marshals at this point were excellent and gave clear instructions to runners as I passed so we knew to avoid the worst sections.

A beautiful run, the icy hills added 7 minutes on to my PB time but I'm happy with what I achieved. I will be back next year.
(I loved the medal too - thank you!)

The only constructive criticism I would make is that on Sunday morning I was frantically checking the 2:09 Events Facebook page for an update on whether the race was still on and I noticed several other people posting questions. If a company is going to have a Facebook page, then it is a good idea to make sure that someone is responsible for updating it with last minute information. Something for 2:09 to keep in mind?

In short: A very nice race
In full: I find it hard to understand all the criticism targeted at this race so far. To say the hills were a death trap is ridiculous. Yes it was icy but given the weather of the past few days this was hardly surprising. Maybe its because I do mostly trail running and had done the Grim Terror the night before, but you do wonder if most of these roadies would run on anything other than shag-pile carpet. The organisation was good, the cost was respectable, the goodie bag was fine for the price and it was a very nice scenic run. Please don't carp on about toilets - its an hours run after all not a five star holiday.

In short: Worth it for the unusual Medal. Ice on hillsl was dangerous
In full: Toilets were gross. I thought I was unlucky getting a toilet that didn't flush but seeing the reviews I guess they were all like that. I had read about the hills but didn't expect mountains. The slush and ice already mentioned at the steepest points was not helpful. Felt like I earned the lovely medal and cheese burger at the end and was still pleased with my time even though I would surprised at anyone getting a PB.

In short: the route was challenging the hills were good but the 1k-8k hill was a death trap !!!
In full: the weather conditions were known days in advance so more grit should of been ordered the goody bag was ok but nothing special the route was good

In short: Enjoyed the race and would do it again but could be better!
In full: It was a little pricey for what it was but saying that I enjoyed the run and would do it again. Agree with the comments about the ice/slush, I wasn't too worried about my time today but would have been annoyed about that if I was- just a bit of grit would have helped. I didn't think the registration area was very well signposted, I had to run around to find some safety pins! Shame the place was deserted/closed but it meant no queues in the car so not all bad! A good hilly course and a nice fast finish.

In short: Plus: Medal, scenery, parking, Minus: Stewards, lack of grit at places
In full: My first time doing Longleat and it won't be the last.

The course was scenic, not as breath-taking as Stourhead, but still very nice. The hills were tough but enjoyable and what goes up... must come down (and fast). The final 1km was probably the fastest I've ever done.

Parking was very good and there were enough toilets available.

The course was icy at times and could have been gritted or shoveled before the race. It would have been sensible to have the stewards situated at places where there was potential for trouble.

Also it would have been useful if the stewards were briefed beforehand/or had experience of stewarding before. When looking for the baggage area, 10 minutes before start, the 4 stewards sat chatting about 'tigers in the bin' seemed reluctant to assist and gave me wrong directions...

In short: Beautiful and well organised but gritting the ice would be good!
In full: I really enjoyed this, and didn't find the hills too bad, that's training in Bath I suppose! The ice mentioned before, at 1 & 8K, should really have been sorted. I could hear a marshall radioing the organisers about it as I went past. Still, it was uphill there, so not too much of an issue.
The timing was very good, and like the printout. Not really fussed re goody bag, and the recovery drink was welcome.
Spectators can see well in multiple places, but the cafe and all toilets were closed. I can live with portaloos, even if they don't flush, but it's not so nice for spectators. On such an icy day, some hot options other than coffee & burger van would be good.
