In short: Made difficult by a mammoth hill just after midway - but a great race!

In short: Ideal as preparartion for the FLM, but the steep hill around mile 7 will not do much for your personal best time. Great countryside and the organisation was good - loads of marshalls in all the right places.

Couple of grumbles - no goodie bag at all ... but it is a club organised event so perhaps I shouldn't expect the world (nice medal though!). And the water stops .... how does anyone get enough liquid from those cups?
But generally - well done TWH for a great morning.

In short: Tough - but I got a PB!
In full: My second time doing this race - first time in 2004. Organisation has improved with pens at the start indicating finishing time. Not sure about trudging up the main road though.
A really tough course - but I still smashed my PB by over 2 minutes.
I'll be back.

In short: What a hill
In full: but nearly got a pb. Marshalls were excellent, the scenery was lovely and Kelly Holmes was a bonus. The only thumbs down were the lack of free refreshments at the end other than water. Had to hobble back to the car for some money (had a huge blister).

In short: Well organised, well marshalled and challenging race.
In full: Enoyable, friendly race with a tough hill between 6 and 8 miles. Good humoured marshalls at every road junction and water stations well spaced.

In short: One of the best halfs in Kent-not as tough as it's reputation suggests !
In full: Scenery : In places, absolutely stunning views of the surrounding countryside. In other places, suburban streets.Nicely varied and never gets boring.
PB Potential:Despite its reputation,it's a quick course-as is borne out by the course record of c.65 minutes.Spring Hill is tough-it goes on for a long time-but it's never steep enough to be an absolute killer (the hill at the end of the Folkestone Half is,imho, far worse). Most of the course is either flat or downhill and I thought the hardest part was the last 2-3 miles, with the slippery cobbles and pedestrians making it hard to maintain a steady pace.

Atmosphere:Extra point for Dame Kelly.Good crowd support, especially at the top of Spring Hill and a genuine "big race" feel.

Organisation:Top marks.Plenty of toilets, loads of efficient marshalls and water stations.Exceptionally well organised at the start-pens in 5 minute time bands worked very well, plus chip timing that actually worked and results within 1 hour of the finish.

Value:Great medal and the standard of organisation and attention to detail meant we got full value for our money.

Beginner-friendliness:Plenty of support for the slower runners and the size of the field means you'll never be on your own.Great choice for beginners,as long as you've put in the training-it's not a course to be taken lightly.

Overall:Great half marathon.Very varied,well-organised and challenging but with a real chance of a quick time.

In short: Great day. I spoke to Kelly Holmes....what a goddess. Well done. Good support. One uphill challenge but loads of downhill mellow periods. Nice.
In full: 'Ellwood' obviously at different event to me. I saw good planning and excellent event. Only one real climb and local support there excellent. As for traffic, what's wrong with you?? A few cars in a town? Get real. I had a great day....and bowed to Dame Kelly Holmes in the 'We're not worthy' fashion.
Top drawer.
