In short: Very good well organised only minor gripe was the mildly chaotic start.

In short: Good flattish race through some good scenery
In full: Overall it was a good race. Few niggles with the start, and odd traffic problem on the way round. Apart from that was an excellent race. Number and spacing of water stations was a godsend, and other races could learn a thing or two. Will definitely be back again for this one

In short: Fantastic first half-marathon
In full: Great race through lovely, scenic countryside, and past some very tempting pubs. I'm really please to have made this my first half-marathon, and i'll definitely be back for next year. The race organiser was very helpful and answered lots of questions via the forum and e-mail. Nice touch to give out glass souvenier for 25th Anniversary race. Give this race a try in 2008!

In short: Start problems still not overcome
In full: Change of course at start and general start did not work again, although i don't know what the solution is, but as we all had chips i was'nt that bothered the rest was as good as ever, liked the glass memento though

In short: A real mess at the start, great after
In full: The start of this race did not work at all. The route included a lap of a park, but the faster runners then ran into the slower main pack who were just crossing the line. However, following this rather shambolic start, the race was great. A few hills, but mainly flat parkland and country lanes.

I'm sure the organisers will fix the starting issues for next year!

In short: Very good race
In full: A very good race. Good for beginners. Maybe cut out the loops at the beginning. Other than that well done the organisers- excellent goody bag, medal and teeshirt at the end. Other race organisers in Cumbria please take note!

In short: Poor travel directions, lack of clarity as to where to collect race numbers, organisers had lost my timing chip, when did it start - never heard the gun, people just seemed to shffle forwards ???

In short: Great sites , good facilities , nice event
In full: Really well run event with lovely scenery , too many cars however for such a big event in particular on the route back , down to single file running in places to avoid traffic - no easy answers i realise.

In short: Still my favourite despite....
In full: one or two wee problems. Us leisure runners like a bit of a 'proper' start - build-up from an MC, cheering, a starting pistol...not, 'oh, oh, here's the start line, better get going!' And we definitely don't like the aggressive whistle of the cycling race steward as he tries to negotiate the leaders through the massed ranks of those that keep these events going. Some respect whistling man! Also no covers over the cattle grids - potential disaster! But...this is STILL my favourite half. Beautiful Cumbrian scenery and a great team of volunteers make this a peach of a run. 'Nice' is an abused term these days, but nevertheless there is just something nice about this whole event. I have done the past 4 and I will be there for number 5 next year.
