In short: ** Ho, Ho, Ho! ** "RoadRunner" from Croydon! ** In full: Travelled up from South London to join in the festivities, also aimed for a Personal Worst at 5K (my best being 24m 5secs). Joined my cousin Mark and uncle Vic (who has Parkinsons and did the Tunnel 10K with me in Sept.) Parked up by the Museum,(loads of space) and was requested by a mid 20s female could she sit on my knee and give me a list of presents she wanted. I obliged and when she finished gave me a Xmas kiss! As we wandered down Dale Street a dribble of Father Christmasses became a sea of red & white as we entered Exchange Flags & Old Hall St, there were 1000s of people in Santa suits... it was amazing!! I took a bit of footage oa a mini camcorder I'd brought with me and captured the Scottish band complete with bagpipes as they escorted the crowds round to the start in Castle Street. I got a bit confused when looking for my uncle & cousin cos I knew they were in a Santa suit but EVERYONE WAS! At the junction of Dale St. & Castle St. I clambered up on to a flowerbed and WOW! What I saw was truly stunning! As far as the eye could see there were Santas in both directions!! I filmed this view to show anyone unfortunate enough not to be there and I'd heard someone mention as of Saturday night that 5,135 had entered but I think there were 1,2,3,4,5,6... Yeah, loads more than that! My cousin peeled off at the Liver buildig for a pee, we didn't see him until the finish! My turn next as the cold set in. A pit stop at McDonalds near the Wapping Dock and to my amazement the place was a hive of activity! Lots of people ordering McSanta meals and women coming out of the gents loo! FATHER Xmas = male not female! Next a surreal moment - as I looked to the right to rejoin the run there was noone there - I WAS LAST!! I actually ran for the 1st time in the race now to catch my uncle who had plodded on ahead. I passed a massive Father Xmas with a huge paper mache head and 4 legs on Parliment St. Also a dad carrying his son who was asleep! Other sights I saw in the race included a man pushing a sleigh, a bloke running in wellies, women walking in stilletoes, dozens of smaller kids and numerous dogs wearing antlers! Oh.. and lots of sexy Santeretts! As I caught up with my uncle I spotted someone wearing No.15. A quick chat ensued and it turned out the gentleman was 71 and was due for a hip op in the near future, he was so determined to finish! My uncle jogged with me up James St. and into the finish on Castle St were a fabulous crowd was applauding everyone home. No finsh line due to the wind but received a lovely medal then stopped my watch at 59mins 38secs setting a Personal Wosrt for 5K and hopefully being part of a World Record in the process! The goody bag was amazing with a fantastic Liverpool calender, Santa dash t-shirt, mini body spray, honey, snack bar, pretzels, persil gel tabs, coffee + lots more! It was presented to us by my cousin who had finished 20mis earlier! Anyone who wore a Garmin GPS or got upset about no distance markers really should realise this was a FUN RUN raising money for less privelleged people. I believe people travelled from far & wide to join this special event. Well done to all involved in the organisation and everyone who entered in the spirit of fun, it was a fantastic spectical for the City of Liverpool! Date of review: December 7, 2006

In short: Fantastic event! World Class! In full: As the event organiser I would be biased! However, to those who have posted positive comments I thank you indeed. To those who raised issues of parking can I advise the city centre can be used not just one location. I would also advise that we were unable to put up our brand new start and finish gantry shaped in the form of a fireplace (complete with presents) due to strong winds, hence the lack of clarity as to where the start and finish line was! To the individual who has said he / she wouldn't do it again can I just wish you a Very Merry Christmas! The day is about fun and participation and almost everyone has embraced that concept. Given the obvious popularity (and a new World Record in the making) I will look at a point to point course next year to avoid conjestion on the course. A big thank you to everyone who took part and I hope to see you all back next year. Best wishes for 2007. Alan rothwell, Liverpool Santa Dash Organiser. Date of review: December 6, 2006
