In short: Bogtastic
In full: Done this race for a few years now; there's something about doing stuff that you're mum told you you shouldn't (principally jumping in streams and playing in the mud) that can't fail to put a smile on your face after the 9 to 5 of the week.

This year was muddier and slippier than last time I did it, so PB went out of the window, but still very pleased with performance. Very impressive spread of cakes at the end most welcome. Only teensy weensy black mark would be for the state of the dribblers in male changing area (calling them showers is an insult to showers ;-) ) other than that no probs.

Tips for those who have not done before:

1) Really do not even think of wearing road shoes unless it's been bone dry for 30 days previous.
2) Do not wear shoes you worry about getting dirty.
2) Forget PB's
3) Enjoy.

Great race.

In short: Hardest race I have ever run but gee do I feel amazing for having got to the finish line. Never seen mud like this, perhaps a mile of firm surface to run on. The hills were soul destroying on the way up. I think I'll be back.

In short: Great race. One of my favourites.
In full: The promised storm didn’t arrive but there was still enough weather to make it interesting, a stiff breeze & various combinations of drizzle sleet & hail.

Lots of mud, achilles-strecthing quad-straining uphills, mud, pulse-raising downhills, mud, swamps, stream crossings and more mud. Recent weather meant for plenty of surface water about and much energy was dissipated through the shoe sucking oozing muddy sections which made up much of the course.

This race is one of the best around for me, covering an extreme range of surfaces, friendly marshals, lovely scenery, good value & local. With the weather conditions at this time of year ever changing it means that it can be virtually a different race from year to year.

In short: Wow do I ache today!
In full: I couldn't believe how muddy it was and the hills just kept coming!
My first time, I loved it and would recommend it to others.
Well done Pewsey, excellent organisation and marshalling, fantastic spread of cakes too!

In full: Had no idea what to expect but it was absolutely brilliant, very liberating, tough and so fantastically muddy, still getting the mud out of my toes, very well organised and hats off to the marshalls they were fab.

In short: Ooh, that was tough - more of a slide than a run, but good 'clean' fun
In full: I recorded my slowest ever time and ended up walking a couple of times in the last mile with v painfil cramp in my thighs. Many thanks to all who gave me encouragement and pats on the back. Fantastic organisation, fantastic marshalls - except the guy who said "Well done, 8 miles done, 3 to go" before we even got to the third water stop. That threw my bearings a bit; I thought the third water stop was about 7 miles. Perhaps one or two mile markers wouldn't go amiss. Maybe they were there and I missed them, I was that kn*ckered! Great race, good atmosphere - I'll be back next year.

In short: Well and truly 'beasted'
In full: OK it *had* been raining a lot in the days prior but I really hadn't got my head around how muddy it was going to be.

A very friendly crowd, with a real sense that we were all 'in this together' as we skidded and slid our way around. Plenty of cheerful marshalls around the course did a good job of keeping spirits up.
