In short: Good but couple of niggly problems
In full: This was a good course for a challenging, yet fun, race. The views in a couple of places were good and the hills were excellent downhill and challenging up. The race was let down in a couple of ways, the small number of portaloos at the start caused problems, as did not having enough water, meaning that some runners did not get any water until the finish. To their credit, the organisers immediatley placed an apology for both points on its website and considering this was the 50th renewal of the event, I'm assuming that there are not usually problems like this.

In short: Really enjoyable race, the hill wasn't that bad!
In full: This was my first time and I came away having really enjoyed it. The 3 mile hill really was not that bad, not too steep and a few flat bits on the way up. It seemed to be only 7.86 miles or there abouts, but never mind! Would definitely do this race again.

In short: Great hill at start and nice one at the end too. A worthy challenge for most.
In full: A good challenge. Main hill was about 2 miles long, then some steep downhill running. Nice touch at the end with the mile or so uphill again to the finish line. There was a bit of a problem along one stretch of road where there was heavy traffic very close to the 850 runners on and amazingly some runners who felt they could squeeze through impossibly small gaps between other runners and vehicles on that same road...what were they thinking!?.
The event could benefit by having some sport drink sponsorship there too or something a more in the goodie bag than leaflets and promos. Well worth another go though and reasonable value.

In short: Amazing views; challenging hill
In full: Nice route, good atmosphere, challenging hills and rewarding fast downhills.

Slight downside in the lack of water at the water station, but to be honest I didn't need it - too cold!

In short: 6th time, BRILLIANT, slightly amateurish feel which really makes it great
In full: Awesome route - view from the top of the Hog's Back was phenomenal this morning - misty sunshine across the North Downs :-) I love this run - as i say "slightly amateurish" in things like the crowd babling away and then being caught out by the starting gun - brilliant !! Some moans about number of toilets, but otherwise parking, collection of numbers, MARSHALLING, baggage transport and location is spectacular. Looking forward to another 50 years - i wish ! Personally, i wouldn't want anything different.
