In short: How can a circular race be uphill the whole way?
In full: Nicely organised, tough course with never ending hills. Also it was very icy on all the roads but the marshalls made a good job of stopping traffic. The scarf matches the Holmfirth 15 hat, I just need some gloves now!

In short: Oh those hills!!!
In full: This was my first time at Meltham, although I'd read previous reviews on here so knew what to expect. For a beginner like me it was certainly tough - I reckon I came in the last half dozen. The hills were many, but the scenery was great. The organisation was good and runners and marshalls alike were very friendly. Will have to wait to see if I am any fitter this time next year before deciding whether to do it again!

In short: I loved this race!
In full: This was a real challenge and took so much more mental and physical energy than your average city 10km.

The gruelling hills and icy roads were made easier by fantastic scenery and really friendly marshalls.

I'm starting to think that I'd enjoy fell running and more off road events as (in a sick way) I enjoyed the up hills!

I'm a slowish runner (about 1hr 2mins is normal for me for a flat 10k) and was worried that I'd come last in this race as seemed to be pretty much all club runners but was pleased to see a few others at my pace and i finished in 1 hr 4 mins so the hills didn't make a big difference.

Thanks to the organisers, I'll be back next year for sure!

In short: A monster! Bring a sense of humour, leave PB aspirations at home. Thanks to marshals for slowing us down on the worst of the ice.

In short: Oh those hills, seemed more up than down.
In full: First time at Meltham, and although got round in one piece, I thought it was a very difficult course (then what should I expect at Meltham). There seemed to be more up than down. It was a very cold morning with quite a hard frost on the ground, which made it quite tricky in places. The little hill at the end is a killer.
Respect to the Marshals today, on what must have been a very chilly mornings work.

In short: 4.5 miles uphill on a circular 10K course? Defies the laws of Physics!

In short: hilly and scenic
In full: A pretty tough race but mostly rural with good scenery and friendly marshalls. Forget the PB potential and its a great blast for a cold January morning... didn't see the free tea and biscuits mentioned in previous years' reviews
