In short: Some timing boards at the start would have helped order the field better.
In full: Some timing boards at the start would have helped order the field better. This could also be done for each wave.

A very fast course, would be even faster without the wind!

In short: Great race, usual wind, but great last two miles
In full: Much better with the staggered start, meant the field was more spaced. Super local support. Windy as ever, but the blowing the right way for the last two miles - brought me home with gusto! Weighty medal - always good, but the usual with walkers - move over to the side, please!!!!

In short: Great course, great atmosphere, great run!
In full: Much better this year with the staggered starts and championchip timing. Why is this race still treated as a poor relation by the media? The North gets all the attention, draws all the celebs and big name UK athletes. The GSR is the biggest 10 miler in EUROPE and gets 40 minutes on Channel 5 at half past midnight, virtually no paper coverage and few top class athletes. This should be addressed to ensure continued high successes.

In short: A truely wonderfully well organised race, a race for all levels of runner.
In full: A cold windy start, but one where was able to gain a PB. Everything for me went well generally I run at a 10 min/mi pace but at the great south run I managed to pick up the pace and run at 9 min/mi pace will try to beat this next year.

In short: I cut my teeth on this run 5 years ago, I now use it as marker for fitness levels, if I can't beat the previous years time I train harder!
