In short: Rained a little on my parade.
In full: 3rd year on the bounce for me doing this race, and I came to it off the back of a bad injury so no great time from me as totally expected but I still wanted to take part in it and get that big chunky medal at the end.

I'm hoping if I do it again next year that we get a break from the gales that have hit us hard on the latter part of the run for the past 2 years. This year was just torture!

I enjoy this run as it's so darn fast, and know any PB I hit will potentially be the fastest I can do if I achieve it on this course.
One question; I had an A on my number but had no indication as to what it was for, does anyone know?
Value is a little sticking point - not sure the relatively large fee is really worth it albeit the cost to run it must be large.
I stayed in Southsea on the Saturday night with resident friends so the traffic was no issue as I held off leaving till the evening.
Hopefully next year or the one after that will herald great conditions and a spanking new PB.

In short: First GSR, First 10 mile race
In full: Excellent experience. Thanks to the people of Portsmouth who stood for hours in the pouring rain to cheer on total strangers ! Shame about the idiot spectators who INSISTED on crossing the road at all points of the course during the race meaning WE had to avoid THEM. Where were the marshalls ? Where was the pedestrian's common sense ? Spectators were edging on to the road creating a long line funnel as they edged in front of the person on their left to get a better view at about mile 6. Plus the wobbly 12 year old on his wobbly push bike who was into wobbling into the oncoming path of the runners. Respect the Run - yeah spectators could use that too.

In short: A good run for me, despite the mixed reviews
In full: My friend and I decided to make a long weekend of it so we stayed in a B&B the nights before and after, so we had no traffic problems. We did, however, see the congestion before and after and didn't envy anyone in it! Really, despite the weather, I enjoyed this run and I set a PB which added to my positive feeling. I didn't encounter any problems along the route and I thought the spectators/supporters were fabulous - esp the ones between 8-9 miles along the seafront being battered about in that wind and rain. I thank heaven for that DJ at approx 8-9 miles also, as I was running past the speakers, The Killers "Mr Brightside" was blaring and gave me added enthusiasm.
I have only done a handful of runs so I've not much to compare it to but I enjoyed it v much. Left me with such a happy feeling all day!

In short: Great race but too crowded and traffic management abismal
In full: 4th time of doing this run, the run itself is excellent, 18,500 runners is perhaps too many. The parking and traffic management was terrible (non existent), 1 hour to leave the carpark, attendants too busy smoking and 1hr to get to main road.

In short: Great organisation, Great race, shocking weather!
In full: Really enjoyed the race and atmosphere up until 8 miles! Last 2 were tough and I struggled, was so glad it was only 10m and not a half!! Well done Portsmouth.

In short: Another great year - rain and all!
In full: PB for me knocking off 3 mins from last year - if it would only stop raining each year I may be able to do better! Top organisation apart from the parking fiasco!
Great medal and T-shirt - shame about the rest of the goody bag!
I will be back!
