In short: Another well organised event, flat and fast. In full: Flat and fast 2 lap course with an out and back section, well organised. The path is quite narrow in places especially with dog walkers and runners heading in both directions but that shouldn't really be a problem should it?
Only personal let down for me was the complete lack of common sense from one runner on the out and back section. If you really want to stop and "high-five" power walkers who are being lapped then at least have the common sense and decency to get out of the way of quicker runners heading in the opposite direction. The guy in question looked like "a runner" and plenty old enough to know better. I guess one out of 600 - 800 isn't a bad ratio though!
Anyway, good job from the organisers and marshals again though and excellent value every year. Date of review: January 24, 2011
In short: Excellent PB race & great start to the running year In full: My first time in the Telford 10k. Excellently organised. Distance markers were very clear and very accurate. There were not many marshalls, so the race didn't have the same atmosphere as some other local runs, but other runners encouraged each other through the run, especially on the second lap as they passed the other way, which was great.
Overall a good run and a PB too, so very happy with the result. Would definately do it again. Date of review: January 24, 2011
In short: Relaxed atmosphere in scenic town park In full: My first 'official' 10k, it was due to run before Christmas but the weather put paid to that. Much better weather this time around, cold but dry and no ice. Seemed fairly informal which suited me and was a good intro to running in a large group. Note for next time; don't start at the back - the pathway is narrow in places making overtaking difficult, especially as the faster runners are streaming in the opposite direction. Thanks to Telford AC and Dave Mansbridge for a great event! Date of review: January 23, 2011
In short: Worth waiting an extra month for. In full: The postponement due to bad weather was handled better this year and I found overall organisation improved. Cheap, friendly and fast what more do you need. Beat my PB by 2 minutes so lots of satisfaction all round. Lack of date/year on medal is my only criticism and in the end what does that matter. Bravo Telford. Date of review: January 23, 2011
In full: Every runner worth their salt knows that events can be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. What's not acceptable is for organisers not to make themselves known on race day, when a race is cancelled. I met other runners who obviously didn't receive e-mails until very late as I had too. There were a group of us in the car park vicinity with a guy who said he was supposed to be marshalling and HE didn't know that the race was cancelled! I need to make it clear though that this chap was not a member of the organisers. The organisers claim that they were in the car park, but I don't know them from jack and they didn't have a sign pointing themselves out.
Having said all that though, the organisers did send me a refund minus the Runners World fee. I was really looking forward to doing this race, but this experience left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I may race this in a few more years time, but not anytime soon. Date of review: July 20, 2010
