In short: Fun, not quite as muddy as expecting
In full: A good race not as many obstacles as shown on the web site, bottle neck within a few hundred yards, adding time to race.Overall worth the trip, nice cold paddle through muddy water

In short: Nice different type of race - Great t-shirt
In full: Not enough places to over-take but was well organised. It's also a shame people were allowed to run on the path next to the river we were meant to run down. Err guys, if you're entering a MILITARY 10K - don't cheat by missing out the obstacles!!!

In short: Very challenging as it's not just a run - lots of big hills too
In full: This was my first ever run and it was great. Very hard on the legs with all of the hills. I really enjoyed the obstacles but didn't really think that there were enough of them. I was hoping for 'the dreaded wall' but there wasn't one.
I will be doing it next year with any luck

In short: a fun run
In full: This is a race for beginners really. The 10k run wasn't without it's hold ups. at about half way the 10k runners merged with the 5k runners, and a crowd of people walking in front of you is not very good when you'd like to get finished the same day. The water obstacle was 'ok' the hills were steep enough and the other novelty obstacles were a bit different. oversllis was a bit of fun. You won't get a PB, but for beginners it's a good race. People who run quite serious and like to go all out and get a good time should maybe give this one a miss. The price wasn't really reflected in the race and post race goody bag either so your pocket won't feel like it missed out either.

In short: I dont like hills!!!
In full: They throw you in the deep end, as soon as you set off its stright up a hill. The middle is all up hills and the end seemed pretty hilly too!! I managed 20 mins off my average 10km time and i was really going for it.
Marshell were very friendly egging you on, and the course was well mapped out. Obstacles werent to challenging but a welcome break. Nice little bag at the end.

In short: Indded a 'special' race.
In full: A group of us entered as a fun day out - no PB heros on this one. Steep hills, rope assisted climbs, waist deep wadeing, obstacles. Very muddy.
Real good interesting fun, I might never do a road race again.

In short: Mud, hills, mud, mud, hills, smelly water, mud. love it!
In full: 3rd time at this race and it was good to see the organisers keeping it fresh by redesigning the course and putting more obstacles in.

really fab atmostphere and the fact there is pretty much a 0% chance of a PB is one of its selling points: this is a tough event.

any gripes? well the long queue to collect your number and the long loo queue could apply to most races. I'm not entirely sure where all the £22 entry fee goes - it's not as if there's loads of equipment to maintain - but this is definitely one of my favourite races. Even if i did fall in the mud four times!
