In short: Another very pleasant trip to Southport - enjoyed by all!
In full: Overall an excellent race. Well done organisers!

Strong points - flat fast course, excellent goody bag - the towel probably being the highlight! Didn't get the drinks bottle, radio, or make up (!)

Results up already on UK Results despite the huge turn out!

Weak points - runners under 40 mins will have found themselves having to weave though countless lapped runners. Nobody particularly at fault, but course probably too narrow to cope with the volume of runners!

In short: Never in the field of racing has so many goodies been given to so many.
In full: As mentioned in earlier ratings it would have been better if the start of the race has been on a wider part of the course. However that would be nit-picking as I found it an excellent race.

Marshalls, doubling up at some points, made sure there was no chance of going wrong.

The goodie bag must have cost more than the entry fee! I assume some sponsorship chipped in.

Pb potential due to it being practically flat.

A definite for next year.

In short: Nice course for a 3-lap race
In full: I enjoyed this race overall. I was a bit wary of doing a 3-lap 10k but the course was nice and there were some very differernt scenery in the race - part of it was through woods, down streets, open park, nice secured bits of the park. It certainly wasn't as boring as I feared it would be.

The only problem I had was getting started as there was a large number of runners and very narrow lanes for the start. Personally, I would have perferred the race to be run the other way round as where the finish line had about 500 metres of very wide road which would have been much better to use at the begining rather than the end of the race.

The only other problem I noticed on the day was stupidity the organisers couldn't have foreseen. After I finished there were a lot of runners still on the course. I noticed at the water station some idiots were standing on the course-side of the table taking water from it. A couple of women running past (still competing) actually had to queue up behind people who had finished to get to the table. It really annoys me when people who have finish interfere with people who are yet to finish - how would they like it if people showed them no consideration when being overtaken.

Anyay, I enjoyed the race and will probably be there again next year. I was impressed by the large amount of marshalls on the course - probably more than I see on 10k's which aren't multiple laps.

My abiding memory of this race will be the goody bag though. I like organisers to do something a little original rather than giving you the usual bog-standard stuff. Towels always get a plus point over t-shirts for me, and the running water bottle will save me a few quid as I need one anyway. But I can't really understand why there was make-up in there - very strange.

In short: Good use of Park paths but three laps of watching the field
In full: The race is well organised and marshalled within Victoria park and a section outside the park. This year was very wet or they had left in some water features from the southport flower show. As a three lap route there is a section of "contraflow" and the speed merchants may have been baulked by the back markers (not a problem in the middle of the pack really) A good race, worth doing, I would be there this year if It wasn't for the kids social life!
