In short: Let down again by poor organisation... In full: Last year this was my first ever 10k, so I was looking forward to it again despite feeling woefuly underprepared. I have to say I don't understand why race numbers and chips weren't sent out, especially when it was £14 to enter. It's not as if the chips were bulky and couldn't be posted. Luckily I got there early enough not to have to queue, but I can understand the frustration of people who had to queue twice. The race itself was really nice, scenery lovely as always, and I enjoyed it, despite not managing a PB. Date of review: September 29, 2008

In short: Same as most other peoples comments really. In full: Just one point, I thought Worksop Harriers organised the event this year as opposed to the National Trust so was expecting the organisation to be much smoother....if you are going to have over 1000 runners turn up for a race you need about 10 lines of queues, not 4! In short: Lacked organisation & Support In full: Yes it was a shambles at the start but not all down to the organisers as they warned racers that there would be queues for race numbers and that. So why didn’t people get there earlier??? A bit tight at the start but ok once you got going, though could of done with keeping the supporters out of the way! Poor t-shirt as you can hardly see the insignia its that small but overall a good course and certainly a PB breaker but with better organisation it could be a very good race!

In short: don't let these organise anything bigger..... SHAMBLES In full: I concurr with everything said about the start of the race and I would like to add:
1.Why when we had a relative in a wheelchair with a blue badge did they FORCE us into the parking field despite asking 3 times to goto the disabled. Anyone ever tried pushing 22 stone in a wheelchair in a very muddy field for 1/2 a mile ??? 2.I thought the point of chipped races was the chip started at the start line and gave an accurate time. Is it me or is the 1 1/2 minutes extra on my time, compared to my own stopwatch started at the line, likely to be the time queing to get to the start line 3.COMPLETE lack of facilities. A very small cafe that couldn't cope and not enough toilets too far away from start. Ever heard of portaloos and tea vans? Date of review: September 29, 2008

In short: It was good but there are improvements needed In full: The course was very nice and overall I really enjoyed this event but there are some improvements that could be made (and having read the 2007 reviews a lot of those suggestions have been taken on board). 1) Toilets closer to the start line 2) post numbers and chips out prior to the event OR 3) Have a better queuing system with more people handing out numbers 4) Either more water stations or have bottles of water at halfway 5) As mentioned elsewhere - a date on the t-shirt would be nice And a personal preference would be to have competitors only on the line-up to the start and supporters at the side. Overall I had fun though! Date of review: September 28, 2008

In short: Total shambles & a total rip off. In full: For the cash this was a disgrace. 1000 runners stood about in the rain whilst the numbers shambles was sorted out was a joke. Done runs with 1000,s runners & never seen anything like this. A terrific venue totally ruined by no organisation. No toilets for runners & a poor t-shirt. Shame on you charging so much. Do the Worksop half instead to see the scenery & how to organise an event. Date of review: September 28, 2008

In short: What a shame they can't organise a brewery trip In full: Last year's finish line shambles transferred to the start . A brain surgeon wasn't required to know it would be. You try and get the family to the car park by 8am or even 0830 Date of review: September 28, 2008

In short: Terrible organisation, but good location In full: For £15 this was a rip off. They couldn't even be bothered to send out numbers in advance. The queueing at the start for numbers was a shambles. We had no idea what was going on,and almost ended up in the wrong queue. Some folk were getting quite irate after queueing for a long time, only tobe told they shouldbe elsewhere. Hmmmmm... Don't blame them. Then they delayed the start, and I really needed a trip to the loo, but there weren't any. Imagine hundreds of people using the trees as a toilet. Very unpleasant. The race itself was lovely. I did enjoy it, and managed a PB, so was happy. The t-shirt was rubbish - mine will probably go straight to the charity shop. No medal or goody bag, which goes back to my original point. How can they justify that cost. There were 6 of us in two vehicles, so they can't say it was the car park costs. As an event run by the National Trust this definately needs improving. Not sure we'll be back. Date of review: September 28, 2008

In short: Good course, lovely views, perfect weather. In full: Arrived at the event at about 8.30 as advised in the pre race info, registered without a queue then would have had only an hour to wander back to the car sort out our stuff and then get ready for the race. However the race start was delayed as alot of runners turned up after 9.00. The run was very enjoyable with very little crowding, the finish was smooth and the t-shirt fits well. All this and a PB to boot. Date of review: September 28, 2008
