In short: The cold shrunk the course! Freezing fun though In full: Very friendly and well organised 10k. Simply done, burger van for the spectators and runners and a nice medal in a sports bag.
I only have one gripe and that is the length of the course. Mine and other Garmins made the length nearly 350m short of 10k.
I smashed my PB an got under 50mins for the first time ever with 46:23. I was on for just under 48mins if the course had have been correct length. It only needs the grass section to be moved slightly and the length will be correct.
In short: Good race and well organised - cant say fairer than that! In full: Beddington Park 10k has got it right - medal, goodie bag and good organisation. Just proves that the recipe is easy providing you get the basics right - your peers have a lot to learn from this. Great job! Date of review: November 29, 2010
In short: Excellent race despite the freezing cold! In full: Good communication, well organised, friendly stewards and an enjoyable race all round. I'll be back again next time. Kevin, the results were emailed earlier on this afternoon and I gather will be posted sometime this week on www.suttonsportspromotions.com Date of review: November 28, 2010
In short: A great run In full: Perfect Sunday morning run in a park. Organisation was excellent, marshalls encouraging and the sub-zero weather gave us the impetus to speed up a bit. Four laps around a park may seem boring, but it was a lovely almost flat course, with fewer races at this time of year well worth having a go next year. Date of review: November 28, 2010
In short: Great fun In full: Excellent race, most enjoyable despite the heavy conditions under foot in places. Great organistaion, communication, etc. Friendly marshalls and stewards throughout. Will definitely return for this one again. Date of review: November 22, 2010
In full: I searched through the Runners World website looking for a race to do and found this one. It was a short train ride away from London Victoria and then a short walking distance to the park itself. This is a good race for 10K virgins, but they may find that the Indian Monsoon which drenched all the runners a little startling!
NEGATIVE: There wasn't much of a goody bag, but being a charity event one shouldn't quibble so much. The marshalling could have been better, especially around the grassy area. I cut across on the first circuit, but there was someone to inform the runners on the next three circuits. Whoever is in charge of looking after Beddington Park needs to to do a better job of cleaning the toilets as they were of a less than satisfactory standard.
POSITIVE: The medal looked nice, but nothing really special until I turned it over at home. It was engraved with the name and year of the event, which I thought was a great move by the organisers, especially as it's a small event. I appreciated THIS small gesture more than anything else on the day. The organisers themselves seemed friendly, but perhaps needed to be a little more vocal in letting everyone know that they were the event organisers on the day when they were putting tables and chairs out between two trees. In short: Great for a PB, 4 flat laps of a lovely park In full: Really enjoyed this 10k and achieved a PB, as did my friend. The course is flat so it has great PB potential. There were no queues for collection of numbers as there were not many runners taking part (can't remember the exact number but 100-150). Really nice park and everyone was awarded a medal and a random Chelsea book! I'd definitely do this one again. Date of review: July 4, 2010
In short: PB Potential In full: The relatively flat 10k always offers PB potential. Similiar to the Nov 10k but the numbers were slightly lower but this meant easy to zip round and no congestion. Good , simple organisation and a nice touch as a goody bag a football book and medal. Date of review: June 13, 2010
