In short: Not so much a run as a struggle!
In full: Very tough, hills all the way, 95% off road = most of which was very muddy - no hope of getting into a rhythm - some descents were knee, hip & back jarring - when the mud wasn't making you slip sideways & backwards it was trying to suck your trainers off! Real energy sapper - the last 3 miles was a head down gritted teeth grind to the line. See you next year :)

In short: The stuff above was good - the stuff below was horrendous at times
In full: Muddy and mental! Didn't kill myself as I have the 5-4-3-2-1 Salisbury Trail marathon on 9th August! Took a big fall, SpLaT! straight into one of those quagmires but got straight back up and soldiered on. Had a bad mile between 10 & 11, had a groin strain and cramp to contend with too!. Took a few pictures of all the mud at the 12 mile marker, it was ridiculous!! The stuff above was good - blue skies and sunshine! The stuff below was horrendous at times - ankle deep mud / water and no grip! Hilly and tricky but overall a lovely course.
The marshalls were fantastic, I would employ the marshall at mile 8 - she was amazing, give her some pom poms next year, very uplifting!
I did the Picnic marathon in June, reputed to be the 'Hardest in Britain'. I did the first half in 2:39 and this half 2:15 (My PB on the road is 1:44). Tough is measured in different ways - hills and steps are tough and ankle deep mud and sliding sideways at 90 degrees with no grip at all is wierd but it added to the fun!
Missed out on the mixed showers but I'll be back next year! ;)

In short: Ouch!!!!!
In full: A nice run in and around the Milland Valley. Although it was a warm day the shade of the woodland trails kept you cool. Lots of mud, hills and trails. Roads were kept to a minimum and were used to link the off-road trails. Excellent marshalling and cheerful helpers at the water stops. Well done Liss Runners.

In short: A first class friendly race
In full: Thanks for such a hard Sunday morning work out.
I found this harder than previous years probably due to so much mud.
Liss runners you are top class organisers.
Special thanks to the first aid man on course first time I have ever taken a gel in 10years of running.Brilliant

In short: That really hurt
In full: It was beautiful, the marshalls were super (especially the lady at mile 8 who sounded like a crowd by herself), the jelly babies were vintage. But it hurt so much, all the leg-numbing mud, the leg-numbing ascents and leg-numbing descents. Back next year, and thanks to the man I drafted for the last 3 miles, without you and the jelly babies I would still be out there.

In short: A great challenging run
In full: Having done the 10k several years ago (no longer running), I knew that it was tough and hilly. DON’T expect a PB, add 25 mins to that. Fantastic view and scenery but killer hills to attack. Well marshalled and nicely organised feel to the race. Will be doing this again next year.
