In short: British 10k could learn from this!!! In full: Having only been to london recently for the British 10k it suddenly made you think that the good race of 2 weeks ago was actually a very poor performance.
Child cheerleaders - enthusiastic marshals not to mention the steel pan band and the brass band on route. Spectators support ace. Everything was great - even to an excellent warm up. Date of review: July 16, 2007

In short: Goof fun, marred by poor management of baggage. In full: Otherwise good organisation marred by a fiasco with the baggage. Having queued for over an hour I arrived at the tent to discover a free for all with no attempt at security for my baggage. If I had known the situation I would never have left my bag there. In short: Good event, badly let down by baggage In full: Excellent atmosphere and location, let down by lack of toilets, and useless baggage. Baggage staff had little organsiation and no control. People got fed up and went in back of tent and searching themselves. Bags being dumped out of back of tent by people looking. Need to sort out for next year. Date of review: July 16, 2007

In short: All up, good fun but a shame about the baggage reclaim chaos In full: Hyde Park is always a great place for a run, and making an event out of it always adds an extra bit of fun. I did this run 2 years ago, though, when it was just Capital Radio and BUPA, not a 'Great Run Production' and I have to say, the organisation of the first event was a lot more laid back and somehow ran a lot smoother.
As much as I always enjoy crossing the finishing line at events such as this, the only thing that left me more disappointed than my Personal Worst of 1:09:38 was the 1hr I had to que to get my bag back.
I only have myself to blame for my poor race time, but I'm surprised that a company of Great Run's size couldn't have got something as basic as bag storage running a bit quicker. Date of review: July 16, 2007

In short: LOVELY MEDAL In full: Very well organised and the marshalls were great. Beautiful weather, the atmosphere was really good and l loved the medal and the goody bag had a nice t-shirt inside. I would definitely do this race again, after l had finished myrace , my family and friends and l sat in the sun for a while and watched the finishers on the huge tv screen which l thought was a nice touch. Couldn't help but notice big baggage queue and was glad l left my husband holding mine. See you next year. Date of review: July 15, 2007

In short: A well-organised up-beat race In full: Loved the atmosphere before and after the race. The bottlenecks were a bit annoying but on the whole the different waves worked well.
My gripe is the baggage organisation. I queued for an hour to get to the front only to find that it was a free for all as nobody was there looking after them. They didn't seem to have been arranged in numerical order. Some bags were even out the back of the tent on the grass. Bearing in mind we had to be able to show our number to get our bags back, I would have thought the tent would have been manned. Date of review: July 15, 2007

In short: Smashed my PB! In full: Really enjoyed this race. very flat course with great PB potential as I took over a minute off mine, finishing in 41:48. Could have done with an earlier water stop as i was really thirsty by 6k. Shower was a nice touch and freshened me up on a very hot, sticky morning. Marshalls very enthusiastic, as were the crowd in certain areas. Other crowd members confused this race with a library convention and remained silent. wave start seemed to work well from the front, great goodie bag and medal. Can't wait for next year. In short: They've got to be the most enthusiastic marshalls I've ever seen! In full: Great atmosphere, and very well organised considering the number of runners. I do wish that people would be honest about their expected finish time, or that there was a separate wave for walkers. I was honest, in the pink wave, and spent the first 2km trying to scrabble through the meandering crowds. I noticed a fair few green wave entrants finishing after me, which was a bit frustrating. Lots of free water, a fantastic cold shower at 6km, a great medal and t-shirt in the goodie bag. Lovely route round Hyde Park. Thankfully, I escaped the baggage scrabble at the end, but wouldn't have minded a few extra loos - I queued for 40 minutes before the start. I think this is a particularly good race for beginners. And Buster Martin finished! Date of review: July 15, 2007

In short: Great race in the Capital In full: Very well organized given its size--expected chaos but found it very stress-free. Wave starts a definate plus. Water bottles a bit fussy--would be better with tops completely removed. Course had enought twists and turns to be interesting and didn't feel circular. I found it inspirational to see elite runners heading towards finish as we mass runners plugged away! Chip timing always helpful and reduces scrum feeling at start. Results on website would be more meaningful with info about position in gender/age etc. Will definately return next year and recommend to friends. Date of review: July 15, 2007
