In short: Challenging and beautiful course In full: Set in beautiful scenery, I imagine this run would be a huge challenge in the wet. Luckily, the weather was glorious. It was very well organised, although the 5K and 10K could do with being staggered more. Very friendly atmosphere too. Date of review: September 29, 2008
In short: Well organised x-country race in beautiful scenery In full: My first x-country race in my most local race was wonderful. The course, conditions, scenery and organisation were all first class. My only wish for next year is that the 5k and 10k races are more staggered, as the last 2k was a little crowded where the 2 courses merged. Also, did I miss the 1k and 2k markers, or were they missing? A thoroughly enjoyable race, I will most definitely be back next year. Date of review: September 29, 2008
In short: A classic trail run. Fast in the dry . . . . in the wet? In full: Certainly worth a 100ml drive. Lovely setting. Very well organised.
Fast throuugh to 7km. Then inclines a little stiffer. Need to have courage to dig deeper and bridge across gaps / chase others down. All too easy to settle into solid but comfortable pace when a little more grit in the final Kms would have paid dividends.
Nice touches . . .bbq, prizes. Childrens event quiet some trek around large field. Date of review: September 28, 2008
In short: A lovely run - course improved from last year, great organisation, lots of fun but still a challenge. Look forward to next year - and a repeat of the good weather! Thank you to everyone. Date of review: September 28, 2008
In short: Well organised, friendly race in beautiful unspoilt countryside In full: A bright, sunny autumn day in beautiful countryside - does running get better than this? The route starts and ends across fields, and is mostly in woodland, descending in the first half before a longish incline near the end. The 10K was well marshalled, and the bouncy castle for kids and BBQ were nice touches.
Not sure if the route was quite 10K (my normally very accurate Garmin measured 80m short), and the 5K had a marshall missing at one junction, which led to some runners going astray briefly, but overall this was a fantastic race. Thanks very much to all who made it happen. Date of review: September 28, 2008
In short: Challenging trail run through glorious countryside In full: Today, the weather was a dream. A lovely, proper cross country run, some tough inclines, and a good finish. Could have done with a couple of marshalls more through 8-9km as the path was very 'rooty'. Just a really wonderful day out
In short: Really enjoyable 10k, hilly at times but nothing too challenging. Well worth getting out of bed for and I will be back next year. In full: The terrain is quite tough in places, and would have been even tougher if there had been a lot of rain recently. As long as you keep one eye on where your feet are going you'll be ok. Very enjoyable and worth turning up to, things for the kids to do too so something for all the family. Date of review: September 28, 2008
