In short: Poor turnout 25/5/08 In full: Very poor turnout 25/5/08,it felt more like a training session rather than a race. I felt they cater for the triathletes and the running race is a tag on for extra money. this is my second time and first time was much better, but i doubt i will do again. Also it would be nice to have a finish clock/chip as i believe timings could go astray. Nice T-shirt but i'm not a triathlete and any size was given out. Date of review: May 26, 2008

In short: A confidence boosting race! In full: I have only been running for 9 months from a very high weight (over 20 stones) and have done several 10K's in close succession to measure my improvement weekly. Dorney was my dream. As flat as a cricket wicket and not too hot a day meant I took over 2 mins off my PB to clock my first ever sub hour 10K in near perfect conditions (58.30). The organisation was fine. The race needs a medal.I didn't mind the 2 laps. A surprisingly small field for a reasonable May afternoon. Entry fee?? Date of review: May 25, 2008

In short: No medal, winners prizes given out before everyone home. In full: Shame there was no race clock or courtesy given to the later runners; the race organisers could have waited for all the runners to come home before giving the prizes to the top 6 athletes. Not particularly friendly to spectators as the food and drink facilities closed before the race commenced-why was it kept open for the triathletes? Overall, very pretty location but very monotonous scenery, I felt every K. Date of review: May 25, 2008

In short: no chip no clock no medal In full: Amazed a getting no medal especially with a highly sponsored event like this.. but mainly no clock at finish or markers made it very touch and go with timings especially as we had no chip.. Date of review: May 25, 2008

In short: not great value In full: I can't help feeling that this race is too commercial and that they haven't got the mix right. It's not cheap, sponsors are involved but for the price you pay, you don't really get any value. No clock at the finish line, the registration process was hideous and the race had to be postponed for 15 minutes because they save money by not posting numbers out and making everyone queue. I also thought that no medal was a bit of a cop-out considering the price tag and whole commercial feel of the race. Didn't help that it was raining but all-in-all I'd be put off by anything that seemed to be such a money-making venture, especially seeing that some running clubs and other organisation can put on really great events. In short: Good venue - possible improvements with different organisation?? In full: My first race, didn't know what to expect but comments: 1-parking - why did they organise it that way? 2-start time - a little annoying I had to wait in the rain for late entrants. 3-start - took me at least 30 secs to cross the start as I started near the back 4-course - surely better to run around the lake than just up and down one side? also meant support was very limited except at the start/finish 5-good bag - a little slim
Over all I enjoyed the experience, didn't finish last (a personal goal :)) and found the friendliness of other runners fantastic - I will be back for more races - at this venue and others.

In short: Good for PB and beginners, boring course in great surroundings In full: started a bit late due to on the day entries and toilet queues. most disappointing is the route, it didn't even go round the whole lake Date of review: April 16, 2008

In short: start bit crowded ,dissapointed not to do whole lake In full: My second 10k there and weather last time was wetter than todays , it rained when race supposed to start so left hanging around in rain when just wanted to get on with it ,last time did two laps of lake rather than the four lengths of one side ,which frustrating ,stewards friendly enough though and recommend anyone doing there first 10k as flat.
