In short: Very nice scenery In full: Good sunny day in a lovely location with plenty of facilities. 10k route was a mix of shale and sandy paths. Well organised although the announcer could have had a better microphone. Bit of a squeeze at the start and there are long undulating straights to set your pace, got a PB on this one so I'm well chuffed. Date of review: October 11, 2010

In short: Maid Marion 5k - good first race In full: My first 5k race, went with a friend who was also a recent convert to running. Well organised, with great announcer (especially for the kids 2km finishers). Route was clearly marked and well marshalled. Despite the 'undulations' got my best run time yet. Will be back next year for the 10k or maybe duathlon! Date of review: October 10, 2010

In short: Good race, well organised In full: To say its the 1st time I've done a 10k race I really didn't know what to expect. Add to that the fact that many of the people I spoke to about it who had either done it before or were part of the organisation team said that it was challenging, to say I was nervous when I started was a bit of an understatement! Once I started going though I REALLY enjoyed. It was a nice mix of hills and flats with lovely wooded sections and not as bad as I expected for a trail run.
I will definitely do it again next year to improve on my 10k time of 56mins 29 secs Date of review: October 21, 2009

In short: A very nice run in the woods In full: A nice two lap course with just enough ups and downs to keep you interested but still allow for a PB. A bit of jostling off the line as runners weren't lined up in expected pace order, but they soon sorted themselves out. Although the marshalling was good there wasn't the atmosphere that events ran by running clubs tend to generate............but what great place to go for a run!! Date of review: October 12, 2009

In short: Thoroughly enjoyed it and acheived a PB! In full: If I had to be picky then I'd mention that I thought there would be signposts to the event. Parking was hectic and we didn't know if we needed to pay and display or not. Also got menaced by chavs on bikes who thought it would be fun to play chicken. For the price of the event (£17), the route could have been closed off for the runners. But seriously - it was a great day and I really enjoyed it! Date of review: October 11, 2009

In short: Pleasant running as all Sherwood runs are In full: Car parking was a bit chaotic as Duathlon finishers were leaving as 5k/10k runners arrived. Not a marshall in sight. I may be wrong but I think the provisional results are from the gun not crossing the start line. Did better than my mate though who entered on the day but doesn't figure in the results Date of review: October 11, 2009

In short: Worth the trip out In full: A challenging race for me - never done a trail race before, I'm used to tarmac! The only negative was having to run almost right up to the finish line at the end of the first 5K, a right demotivator. My 4 year old son enjoyed the 2K, very family friendly. In short: Lovely race - well balanced - user-friendly indeed! In full: This is a great run, actually having 2 laps is great to guage the 2nd half - take it within your ability on 1st lap and you know where you can belt it more on the 2nd. Friendly non-elitist and great beginner run. Try the 5K at least and see if you like the idea of becoming a 10K runner. If you already do 10K you will get a good time here. There were no queues to park, register, or have a pee and I arrived quite late at 11.15 am. Date of review: October 11, 2009
