In short: A lot muddier this year!
In full: Conditions under foot were a lot tougher under foot this year but that adds to the enjoyment.

Its a tough race and generally was organised very smoothly. Only gripes on the organisation was the guy on the quad bike trailer thing after about a mile who went hurtling past/through the runners on a forest track (that could have been nasty) and also near the start where the young marshall stood oblivious as about 20 of us took a wrong turn down a steep (but apparently marked) path only to be shouted back after a minute or two by another marshall further on adding a few minutes to the time and leaving us alot further back on congested tracks.

One other bug bear - could iPods be banned as runners couldn't hear others approaching them despite calling meaning little alternative than to head off the trail to get round.

Other than these very good, including the excellent goodie bag and the very genuine 'well dones' from Mike Gratton at the end.

In short: If you like mud and hills, you'll love this.
In full: First time I've done a Salomon X trail. I was expecting it to be muddy, and even though the weather was glorious it certainly delivered, and not just in the X zone.

I was expecting it to be hilly, but was amazed just how steep some parts were. Around the 3rd to 4th mile especially was steep enough to scare off mountain goats. It was more a scramble than a run at that part.

Not quite sure how to score the scenery, as it was wonderful terrain, but not too many calendars are set in smelly boggy mud.

All that said, I absolutely loved it, and will definitely be returning to future X trails.

In short: awesome run. 10miles of muddy, hilly running fun.
In full: wasn't sure what to expect on the mudness, first half fairly tame. this was just to lure you into a false sense security. then splat - thick sticky mud trails, deep bog wading and steep ascents/descents. absolutly nuts, hard work but so much fun. finished head to toe in mud and with a smile.
can't wait for next years in a wetter march, bring on mud...

In short: Mud, hills, bogs, beautiful scenery - just wish I was quicker!
In full: Another great Turbo X

Killer hills in the first half, great muddy/boggy bits. Beautiful woods and bluebell glades in the sunshine :)

Could have done with more mud, but With it being moved to May it was muddier than I expected given the weather.

As always fab organisation and great goody bag and t-shirt. I'll be back, after more speed work :)
