In short: Much more fun than road running In full: I've never understood why road running is far more popular than cross country, and this race proves my point. OK, there are no mile markers and the race distance is only approximate and the conditions vary hugely from one year to the next, so a PB is a fairly meaningless target. But the running is just so much fun!
By cross country standards, this is a fair course. One uphill quagmire - make sure you do your laces up tight else you will waste valuable seconds digging out your shoes - but otherwise an undulating rather than hilly course with good footing.
Great atmosphere, good organisation, encouraging marshalls and lovely scenery - what running was invented for. Date of review: January 23, 2006

In short: Another "Just Racing" success story, Good "clean?" fun!.. In full: Great fun, a real challenge without going over the top. I enjoyed [almost] every one of the 59 minutes that the 10K took me...

In short: Boggy In full: Friendly atmosphere and funny commetary which raised the spirits at end of an unexpectedly muddy and leg zapping run. Worth turning up to see on the first lap a 100 or so people deperately trying to run up hill which I swear they ploughed and watered beforehand. Few fellow runners around me had their shoes inhaled by the mud. For the second weekend running I went home with mud bricks at the end of my legs (did the Wendover Woods the week before). One complaint is that most runners seemed to be doing the 10k which meant on the last lap the runners got strung out. Some of the marshals seemed to disappear or at one point to busy chatting not to see me and another runner disappearing up the wrong track. We got pulled back thankfully by another competitor. Thanks though to the last lady marshal before you hit the carpark out of the woods who was very encouraging! Round 2 here I come. Date of review: January 23, 2006

In short: Muddy and fun! In full: Good for beginners. Commentary at the end was nice, although the finish is a bit demoralising having to run all the way down the field! Date of review: January 23, 2006

In short: Great race, would definitely do this again In full: Race was fairly well organised. Route was scenic with challenge of mud hill. Only disappointing factor was that it was shorter than claimed (my forerunner said 14.8km). Date of review: January 22, 2006

In short: Nice event - the muddy slope was great fun - loverd the diving finish In full: This is my second year and although this year the circuit had been extended it still seemed to be not quite a full 10K. Great commentary at the finish but the water station was a bit of a waste of time - mind you I'll be back in February I think Date of review: January 22, 2006
