In short: Tough Hills, but managed a PB.
In full: I was expecting to be challenged by the hills and wasn't disappointed, they were tough but not too long. Oraganisation was good, considering this is a pure road race. Trafic is a bit of a problem but no different to dodging vehicles when on some of my training runs. I was a bit disapointed at the end when found out there were no medals left!! but PB outweighed disappointment. Many thanks to Ryde Harriers and the friendly Marshalls.

In short: I nearly got a PB, the last mile seem to be long!
In full: I ran better than last year by nearly 9 minutes as I knew the course this time and remember about the big hill at St Helens. Only down side is the traffic. Would be nice to run without competing with cars etc

In short: The four hills make it an interesting run, breaking it down into bite sized pieces

In short: Not recommended for PB Hunters.
In full: Race HQ could have been signposted from the main road. A very challenging hilly course especially in the heat. Found it very lonely towards the front of the race, running on my own for the last 8 miles. A pity more runners from the mainland doesn't give it a go. Would make for a more competetive race at the front end.

In short: Great Challenge, esp with the heat!
In full: Nice small field and local atmosphere made for a good run, although lonely on some of the smaller roads!, good water/sponge stations and marshalling, shame locals didn't come out to support but hey they were prob down the beach!

In short: Great challenge.
In full: This race is tough. Many long hills together with a 25C made this race a good challenge. well organised. the race is a MUST if you are planning to run Comrades in South Africa. Not every race can be a PB. Accept the challenge and run this race - worth the challenge.

In short: The hot weather and the snakes and ladderesque loop made it an absolute killer!
In full: Arrows pointing to the start would have been handy but we muddled through. The course was much more challenging this year owing to "police concerns" which made it more scenic but the loop 3/4s of the way up the hill to Ryde which took us back to the foot of the hill in Brading was a destroyer. Might I suggest putting the loop somewhwere else next year, anywhere but where it was please. The marshalls and the drink and sponge station staff were brilliant, the local support non-existant

In short: IoW Marathon 2008 - Hot! Hot! Hot!
In full: Thoroughly enjoyed the run. A couple of cruel loops towards the end, let's just say they were character building! Parts of the course change were better than before, for example - keeping off the main road towards Arreton was nice, but I'm sure we encountered more hills going that way! Last year I bowed out at Godshill, this year I managed a 3h 57m finish. Marshals were excellent, water stops were plenty. Can we bring the start time forward to 9am? Slightly cooler and maybe less traffic? Thanks to Ryde Harriers.

In short: IoW Marathon 2008 - Hot and very hilly!!!!
In full: A very well organised run over some serious hills that never stop! An 11am start on a scorching day made it even harder. This was brilliantly marshalled and very friendly. The change of course and the loop back up that hill at 20-23 was very cruel as was seeing the winning banner and then having to run another loop around the streets! Great fun but way too hot for a marathon!

In short: Up, down, up, down - if only I was as quick as a rollercoaster!
In full: A very challenging, hilly 10M race on a cold blustery day. Course was good with clear signs and sound marshalling (although not the most vocal or encouraging). Some issues at times with impatient car drivers not heeding caution signs on a narrow roads, but then again not helped by a number of runners crossing the roads to cut corners at inopportune moments. Was disappointed to not receive a medal at end but have subsequently found out that the suppliers let Ryde Harriers down on the day and they will ensure that those who did not get medal will receive one in the post (just email the club to give them your details). In the end I completed the course within 50 secs of my PB and strangely enough found the last and biggest hill the easiest of the lot, don't figure.
