In short: Nice route past Hampton Court and along the river In full: Confusing at the start and no announcements - saw many women starting with the men's race. Lots of times will be wrong. Date of review: April 3, 2007
In short: In full: Extremely flat nd nice route along side the river. The start was a bit of a mess with staggered starts where some people went in the wrong section and had to start again or carried on to get incorrect times at the end. Having massed women start 10 mins after the men mean having to weave round overtaking people all the way round as there were a lot of slower first time london marathoners doing the 16 as prep for the marathon. All in all a fast course, nice scenery, not too busy but make the start later and not so confusing. Date of review: April 3, 2007
In short: expensive for the quality, poor crowd support, far too much traffic, sorry for the fast runners who had to run on the road cause it was too crowded on narrow pavements with constant traffic passing by- dangerous I thought . In full: Not good for a potential P.B. then. For a 16m race there should have been toilets on route. Date of review: April 3, 2007
In short: Very enjoyable In full: Did the 8.2m, was a bit confused at the start, thought i was well up toward the front but then realised when the hooter went that most of the field was in front of the start line - strange.
Apart from this i thoroughly enjoyed the race, particularly the straight at the start along the river and past hampton court.
Good organisation and marshalled, will be back in Oct' hopefully for the 16m version. Date of review: April 3, 2007
In short: flat, fast training run In full: as i live 5 minutes from the start i can't comment on the general organisation as i turned up at 7:58 and went straight to the start.
I would not really describe this as a race as such as so many people are using it to marathon train and also its strange distance. As an 8-miler it was a good course and i will probably copy the route in future training runs. The amount of drink stations was good even if the marshalling on the whole was a bit thin on the ground outside of the start/finsh and the drink stations. The only major gripe, despite it not affecting me, is why do the 16 milers not start first which would give them a clear route and only the very quickest would have to overtake 8 milers who would have thinned out by that time.
Overall, a good run that I would only do again, and 16 miles, if I got a FLM place. Date of review: April 3, 2007
