In short: Good way to kick start the year
In full: A much bigger field than expected but course seemed to cope with the extra bodies, perhaps chip timing for next year. Every year on the ratings people comment about not running on the sea front, it is way too busy for that amount of people, so the club has to stick with the existing route which is very fast,
Shame about the water, but how many need it on a 10K when it is 10 degrees ?
Good facilities at HQ, nice hot showers, coffee etc. Well marshalled en route, will be back in 2103. Cracking T shirt, ran in it twice already !

In full: First time I have done this race and I loved it! Shame about some moron stealing the water but it didn't spoil the race or the atmosphere. Great support around the course, the marshalls were brilliant, and every car driver stopped to let us cross roads which was good. Loved the T shirt and got a PB so it was a grand day out!

In full: This is the 8th time I have taken part in this race and I love coming back year on year. A far better race than the 9.1k they put on over the otjher side of the Humber Bridge in Beverley every year. It is always well organised and always has a great atmosphere and is always well marshalled as well. It is a nice route and is totally flat. It was great to see a record turn out this year which tells you something about this ever popular event. Also love this years T-shirt! :)

So well done Cleethorpes A.C. on another well organised run. Next month they will also be hosting their annual Beach Terrain Cross-Country run which is also well supported and well organised every year. Always worth the Bridge Toll to attend both these annual events. So here is to NYD 10k 2013 :)

What a shame there was a heartless moron in the area this year who thought it would be a good idea to steal the race water - thank you for spoiling a very good race for everyone!

In short: Great way to Start the New Year. Good to come back home for.
In full: Fabulous way to kick start 2012. Don't think I quite made my target of being inside the hour mark which was a shame (I'm blaming it on that headwind on North Sea Lane!) Shame about the low life who stole the water but the race was was short enough and cold enough to not really need any except maybe more at the finish. For me it was a lovely experience and a great excuse to come back home to Cleethorpes, from my adopted home in Kent, for New Year. Only critisms would be a question mark over the route (why not some of the race along the sea front and into the town?) and the distance markers could have been more frequent. We don't all have GPS you know! Overall though it was really pleasurable and will do it again every year I'm around and the legs are willing....

In short: My favourite race of the year!
In full: In particular excellent marshalling - not only helpful directions and safety issues overlooked but the general levels of support by way of cheers and words of encouragement was truely appreciated. Fantatiic technical tee too - bonus! My second time running this race and I'll be back in 2013!

In short: Nice start to the year
In full: Despite the forecast wind it did not seem too bad in the race apart from one mile where I lost some time. However I still started 2012 with a PB so cannot complain. There was some traffic on the course but nothing that was intrusive to the race. There is one narrow footpath section coming back to the seafront where it was quite difficult to overtake. Any pedestrians/dog walkers might have caused issues there. I think the organisers may have been surprised by the number of entries which was a record for the event. There was an announcement asking for volunteer marshals at the last minute as some had not turned up. I suppose there is always the chance of that happening after New Year's Eve. Overall I think the organisers and marshals did a great job. Well done to them and I will definitely be back next year.

In short: Flat and fast start to the year
In full: Have to agree with candomust do, it may have been optomistic to leave bottles of water unattended but hey-ho, I didn't hear about the water at the start as I was at the back but do you really need water on a 10k? As far as I know the rules don't require any drinks for less than a 10 mile race and it was hardly a scorcher on Jan 1st. As for runners not completing the course, I did see what was presumably the then lead runner ignore the marshalls and other runners by carrying on straight into town probably rather than follow the rest of us backmarkers turning left. I heard him shout he was on the 2nd lap but to ignore marshalls? Bye bye...

As ever, I enjoyed the run which was well organised, thanks Cleethorpes AC, presumably the knockers don't bother to get involved with organising themselves otherwise they might view things differently. And for once, I got a t shirt that fitted! :-)
