In short: a great race In full: Traveled from Derby to do this race, and it was worth the effort, Tenby is a lovely place and the run had lovely scenery all the way.It was very well run with the water stations just about right. This is my third marathon after London & Edinburgh so it did have more hills but not to bad compared to were I train, I can recommend this race and would love to do it again but at 66 I want to do different marathons each time. In short: The scenery made a great debut event! In full: Brilliant course with great scenery, good support from the locals and a few hills chucked in for good measure!
Okay a few things could be improved but a great first event - showed off Tenby and surrounding areas well!
Will definitely consider it again. Well done organisers! Date of review: September 28, 2010

In short: HARD!!!!! the welsh sure do know how to make a marathon hard...but good In full: Well what can i say, this was my 5th marathon and really i should have expected it to be hilly (Well it was in Wales) but i must admit I cried like a baby at 16 miles and I was convinced that my time would me measured on calender, this course must have been mapped by a Royal MARINE!!!
All said though I am glad I did this marathon and only 8 or so minutes off PB which I am really proud of because the course was like nothing I had run before! the road sign at 2 mile was a nice touch....14% incline warning triangle as it gave us a clue as what was to come ;)
The course stewards and officials were so good, it was as if each of them Had a personal wish for you to do well and they really made the route safe and secure loads of water, energy drink, sweets bananas, i was convinced i would get a full sunday roast at mile 20!
Scenery was breathtaking, medal was nice, and the public cheered you like you was a long lost son!!!!
This marathon was designed for Giants and this morning I feel like I could tackle the world,
THANK YOU WALES!

In short: I wasn't expecting this part of Wales to be as hilly as it was! In full: Brilliant route with great views. Undulating throughout with one major hill after mile 2, and another one at about mile 20.
I thoroughly enjoyed this new marathon. The bulk of the route was scenic but you had to be wary of the constant undulations and those aforementioned hills. There were enough distractions including coastal views, castles, quaint villages and rolling hills - a fair course as you were rewarded with nice flat stretches and some welcome downhills.
Plenty of support on the course, and more than sufficient drinks stations (water in bottles/high five in cups/sweets/fruit).
Being a new event, there were some glitches. Like many other marathon runners, I was given a race pack denoting half marathon - I was assured that I was down for the marathon though. This was okay apart from near the finish where being surrounded by other runners, a marshal (guided by the colour of my race number) directed me straight around the bend to the finish for the half marathoners. Apparently, there was a sign directing the marathoners to continue straight ahead but I didn't see it due to tiredness and being in a crowd. I crossed the finish line triggering a chip time, was then advised by other runners that I should have carried on. Therefore, I crossed back over the finish mat, did the remainder of the marathon loop and then re-crossed the finish line again! God only knows what my chip time will end up as. I just think that this section should have been better marshalled, as it did spoil my day (even before I faced the 'heartbreak hill' that this final loop had in store).
Great marathon, with just a few details to sort out. Well Done. Date of review: September 27, 2010

In full: hard race but good and enjoyed it a couple of things could be better signs showing where the start is etc toilets on the course the finish could have been a lot better and where was the goody bag at end but overall a good race Date of review: September 27, 2010

In short: Scenic and Hilly In full: Fantastic scenery, uphill from about 16 to 24 miles then just when you thought it was all over , they sent you PAST the finish to continue downhill for another half mile to come all the way back up!!Just cruel. Overall very friendly race, but very tough (for me anyway!). Date of review: September 27, 2010

In short: A great race held in a superb location - watch out for the hills In full: I had a superb time doing this. The course is lovely but the hills at miles 3 and 20ish are hard hard hard - and going upto the castle in Tenby at the end is a killer. A really friendly race though and marshalls were great. God ordered in some super weather too. I did a 550 mile round trip to do this and it was worth it . Well done Wales!!! Date of review: September 27, 2010

In short: Excellent course with superb views. In full: Excellent race especially as it was the first year of running. Course was challenging but with gorgeous scenery. The marshalls were very encouraging and the banter on the course was good. The person who thought of the finish around castle hill is either a sadist or a genius (or perhaps both) but what a fantastic view of Tenby Harbour. I will be back next year. Ras campus.
