In short: Expensive scenic flat run
In full: Small number of runners took part in the flat scenic 2 lap course around Stanwick lakes. The route was unclear at one point, you didn’t know whether to go through a gate or go right along a path. Wasn’t too sure where the finish line was either. Most disappointing thing about this run was the extortionate price. £15 to enter + £2 to park your car + £2 for a cake at the cafe. DIY timing, no goody bag at the finish, just a medal received.

Potential to be a good run if they reduced the entry fee closer to £10, attracting a few more runners, added a couple more marshals, used a timing system and supplied a cereal bar and bottle of water at the finish (like all the other runs I’ve done). As it was you may as well have simply turned up and run around the lake a couple of times and saved yourself from being a victim of daylight robbery!

In short: Wonderful route along tracks and quiet lanes, very well organised, a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere throughout. Water-stops just when you needed them and the tease of the local pub 750m before the finish!

In short: Fantastic event, really friendly and welcoming to people of all abilities. Was hard work on the hills but worth the effort if I can eat cake guilt free!

In full: FAB race. Would love to do it again tomorrow (if I had it in me!!) Organisation was superb (almost military!) and the event went like clockwork. Totally friendly, fun and really enjoyable. Higly recomend other runners for next year. Only dissapointment for me was discovering at 35 I am a veteran :o(

In short: Excellent local race, very well organised.
In full: Brilliant organisation, unusual for a first race.Beautiful scenery, with just a few hills. The hot weather made it tougher but it was still enjoyable. A quick field but with enough slower runners at the back. The water bottle was a change from a medal and the tea and hotdogs at the guides centre were great. Well done to all the organisers.

In short: Great Local Race
In full: Very friendly local race. First time and all went very well - like clockwork. Bit hillier than I had anticipate and not a PB course. Nice to be out in the countryside though
