In short: A brilliant trail run, you will never want to run on roads again In full: Being a convert to trail running this was a real gem. Easy to get to, park at the start, low key and friendly but a gorgeous route, very hard but very enjoyable. Running down a hill at the finish was the perfect finale. Great organisation and congratulations to the organisers, very supportive. This is what trail runs should all be about and I will definitely be bag for the slog half marathon in July. In short: great new event In full: i enjoy off roaders and i am always looking for new races. this is a great event, the marshalls were great. mix of drinks at the drink stations. i would say that it was a race run by runners for runners. will be back next year Date of review: November 2, 2010
In short: A great old fashioned cross country race. In full: Lots of hills and sand on this 10 miler. Friendly and well organised marshalls. Had no trouble with the markers and directions. A definite race to mark in the calendar. Let's hope for some sunshine next year for to make a perfect event. Would like to have seen a halloween themed medal - maybe next year. Well done everyone for a great run. Date of review: November 1, 2010
In short: A great rugged friendly XC race with a spooky theme and a few ups and downs! Very well organised event. In full: A very enjoyable, friendly, no frills xc event. Excellent well marked and marshaled course with great Halloween touches en route. Thanks to all the organisers, marshals and encouraging children with Halloween goodies. It would have been great to receive a specific medal to mark the event......and prizes for the winners. Other than that - fantastic! Date of review: November 1, 2010
In short: Loved it, really challenging in places. In full: Great views at the top of the steep climbs which makes them well deserved. Excellent run well organised and well marshalled many thanks see you next Halloween. Date of review: November 1, 2010
In short: Though the route was ghoulish in places (!) the welcome and organisation was second to none - fabulous race In full: Perfect cross-country weather - RAIN! However, despite the weather and the various ghoulish masks (it was Halloween after all) the welcome from the volunteers/organisers was very warm. As only my 3rd race of this distance the terrain was hard going at times (up hills in the soggy sand mainly) but was great to be on a course that was 99.9% off road.
Big thank you to the organisers and volunteers who sat/stood through the rain whilst the competitors ran around enjoying themselves. Definitely will do this again :) Date of review: November 1, 2010
In short: Very well marked, excellent marshalling, nice halloween touches & challenging course In full: A very good start to an inaugral race that was very well marked. No issues with guessing where the route goes. Very clear. Mildly challenging with a good mix of terrain. No fancy refinements at the end, just raw racing typical of most good x-c events. However, perhaps category prizes, hot drinks and a little food would be a bonus if the race is to develop in the future as this would probably attract a bigger field and make it more atmospheric. Some people prefer this, others like the 'raw' element. Nice to see all the children out contributing to the event and shouting encouragement whilst dressed in halloween custumes. Well done to all. I'll be back and will encourage others to enter. Thanks again to everyone involved in making the event happen. Date of review: November 1, 2010
In short: Perfect - don't change anything! In full: An excellent race on a challenging (but not masochistic) and picturesque course with lovely people marshalling in fancy dress and hallowe'en themed stuff all around the course.
I loved it. Will definitely be back if you're running the race next year. Date of review: November 1, 2010
In short: Very well organised - well balanced trail run - more runners needed as field spreads out quite quickly In full: Just the right amount of hills, sand, mud, rocks, roots. The climbs were not too long so I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Very good marshalling but more runners would have improved the atmosphere. Very good signposting and distance markers but where did the 9 mile sign go to just when I needed it? Date of review: November 1, 2010
