In short: Great race along a great route
In full: This was my first half marathon and was a great race. It was really well organised and the route was excellent. A mix of canal-side running with off-road/woods running (beware of tree roots!!)
I will definitely be entering again next year!

In short: Great feel good run
In full: Very enjoyable event with a few miles of nice flat tow paths to get you going before the climb and off road bit. Back down to the canal for the final 3 miles where you can pick up a regular pace again. Something different and will be back next year. Hopefully there will be more similar events as this is a winner and sold out again. Thanks to the organisers and helpers. The numerous signs for directions plus warnings of roots and normal canal type hazards was a nice touch. Thank you.

In short: A lovely variety of scenery and various terrain, but not what I had expected of a "Dirt Run".The amazing weather which was most welcome, certainly contributed to a lack of dirt!
In full: Gorgeous weather conditions on the day certainly inspired a good feeling and added a spring to my step. A warm and well organised meeting place/race HQ was much appreciated. Although the flat surface of the towpath enabled me to settle into the race well, I was surprised that a large proportion of the event was alongside the canal and not more trail as the advertising of the "dirt run" suggested. Despite this, the off road parts were fabulous, offering a variety of scenery and terrain. There were plenty of well positioned marshalls and adequate water stops. Yummy jelly babies too! Thank you. I shall definitely be returning next year.

In short: Well run, scenic but challenging 2nd half
In full: A good route with an easy first 6 miles along the canal path, following by a more cross country 2nd half (undulations, woodland, kissing gates, cow fields etc) before returning to the canal. Good marshalling and clear route marks made it an enjoyable run.

In short: Friendly and faster-than-expected trail half marathon with superb views.
In full: Not so much trail as I was expecting; was only a couple of seconds off my road pb as the towpath is pretty flat/surfaced, but that didn't really matter! It was a lot easier than I expected to pass on the towpath (one of my worries beforehand), first 6 miles are deceptively easy and then I died a little on the hill! After that, a few undulating miles through really pretty woodland trails and fields and back of the towpath for a potentially speedy finish (I was dead by then, speed was not happening!). Very friendly atmosphere, pretty much entirely traffic free and definitely one to be prebooked into my diary for next year!

In short: Very friendyl and well-organized race. A bit disappointed by the lack of trail. Was expecting a much more challenging course. Ended up with a really fast PB!!!
In full: Very nice race, although I would not call it a trail run. Was mostly flat and paved with a small bit of very easy trail in the middle. The "hardcore" marketing was a bit deceptive in that way. Perhaps because I trained in anticipation of a much harder course, and because it was a dry day, I destroyed my personal best. By 12 minutes. Very friendly. Well organized. Great facilities. Nice atmosphere. Lost a lot of time in the first 2 miles as it was very difficult to negotiate overtaking slow runners two or three abreast on the narrow tow path. Would have been nice for slower runners to hang back, and failing that at least to have run single file on the tow path. It was pretty annoying. Didn't have much time to take in scenery as I was pretty focused, but I *think* it was pretty nice. I remember some very attractive forest. Will plan on coming back next year.
