In short: Glorious views and some testing hills
In full: I ran this with 4 total beginners and they really enjoyed the challenge it provided. Possibly the nicest November day ever certainly helped! A lovely race with a great challenge round the Orme - the last 5 miles are downhill and if you conquer the hill a PB is possible.

In short: Orme-inous!
In full: This was my first half-marathon and I summoned up the will to do so after reading the reviews for last year. Also, it gave me enough time to prepare reasonably thoroughly and gave me an excuse to get plenty of hill work in, as the Great Orme is a tough test with two miles of pretty frequent climb.

It's said to be one of the most scenic half-marathons. Undoubtedly. We got lucky with the weather but the views out to sea were splendid irrespective of the direction. Coming back down the Orme was breathtaking with the whole estuary out in front of you.

Marshals were encouraging and there were people most of the way around. The course is obvioualy dominated by the Great Orme, but changes in surface also posed a challenge - especially the gravelly and sandy cycle track from Deganwy to Llandudno.

Finish was well-organised with water at the finish line, and the t-shirts and medals were picked up quickly (very nice medal). The copious supplies of chocolate biscuits afterwards was a nice touch. The only glaring organisational weakness was the relative lack of portable loos.

As this was my first half-marathon I was happy just to set a time and beat it (just, I aimed for 1:45, and got 1:44:11). I don't think it's PB material though as the hills and surfaces can slowly sap it out of you.

Time permitting, I'll be back next year, and can only recommend it to others.

In short: The Orme!
In full: The course makes this race, it's a beautiful route, even takes your mind off the long long climb of the Orme.

No queues for t shirts or medals this year, big improvement. My only gripe was spectators being allowed to stand just behind the finish line, very difficult for exhausted runners. A proper finish funnel would be the next improvement, perhaps incorporating a one way system to take people leaving the race off the quayside so they aren't walking through the finishers?

In short: The Orme is a great challenge with great scenery but that's about it......
In full: Second time I've done this race, really enjoyed it both times. The start was better organised this year but still needs major improvements, its almost impossible to pass the first couple of miles due to the narrow track. The climb up the Orme isn't that bad, it's just very long and steady. The view from the top is breathtaking (or was it the climb!) and the downhill is very welcome. I thought the hardest part was getting back to Conwy after the Orme, it's long and flat and you can see the castle which is still several miles away, found it a bit tough knowing I'd still gotta haul myself all the way back to it!

In short: Challenging, scenic, well supported and marshalled and above all, FUN!
In full: This was my first Half Marthon and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Orme wasn't nearly as hard as I'd expected and I was thrilled to come in at 1hr 50. So glad I did it, will be back next year :D
