In short: Great But Hot In full: Well done to all again this year, but the Powerade bottles were not as good as the pouches from last year. The bottles were to big and you could trip on them on the road, still half full. The finish was better this yeat and the tented village had improved. The Fitness show is not as good as years gone by, could be improved by revamping it. Great run for the children on sat. Both will be back next year. Date of review: September 26, 2009

In short: One of my favourite races. But not my all-time favourite. In full: Done this for 17 years so its more like a addiction. As ever, well organised. Same route with the long road and challenging climbs. Great atmosphere and well worth doing. T-shirt - dull. Why can`t it be a technical shirt. £40 is steep for a big race despite not really value for money. But if you want to do this one, then that`s price you have to pay. In short: Quite simply, a brilliant day out... In full: Organisation - first class. Crowds - first class. PB at the end - a nice surprise, but more brilliant for it!!
An amazing event to be involved in - the only regret is that I didn't realise Nell McAndrew was 100 metres in front of me or I would have run a bit faster along the seafront at South Shields!!
Roll on next year... Date of review: September 25, 2009

In short: Great race, great atmosphere, great people, great time In full: We had a great race and a good weekend, really enjoyed the race, the people were very friendly especially as we went through south shields, with all the sweets, oranges, cakes. I have one small gripe thats is if you want a certificate you have to pay £2.99 would have thought that could be in the race price. Date of review: September 25, 2009

In short: Stunning, what a day!! In full: Inspirational, organisation considering their was probably 250,000 people descending on Newcastle/South Shields was brilliant. Booked my travel with Nirvana Europe and all I had to think about was the race! Still on a high!! Date of review: September 25, 2009

In short: With that many runners somethings will never be quite right, but walking 3 miles to the start line having parked on the official finish car park, catching the recommended bus etc. was a bit much Date of review: September 25, 2009

In short: Another out of body experience !! In full: Loved it , 3rd time , pb !! Incredible crowds so encouraging ,like they feel it's their duty to keep you going ! But !! i had the worst portaloo experience of my life before the race . Then had to battle through all the drink stations and jump over loads of bottles , never seen it so bad . I felt it was dangerously over crowded with some horrid bottle necks . My friend fell at last 900 m , we don't know why , after medical attention 2 very kind spectators helped her to the finish !! Yes i will be back next year !! Date of review: September 24, 2009

In short: Great day, fantastic atmosphere, great support from locals. In full: The locals held out jelly babies, icepops, oranges, vaseline, their hands (for hi fives ). The crowd really kept me going and kept my mind off the distance I had to go. I would hope that I never miss another. (this was my first HM). I completed the course in 1:40:41 and was over the moon with it..... The weather was fantastic too. What a great day....
