In short: faultless, organisation was perfect and an inspiring event In full: My first marathon and I loved it, the event itself was fantastic but also all the correspondence leading up to it and the support. Date of review: October 10, 2013
In short: A1 organisation, In full: very well organised friendly atmosphere great spectator support in the villages nice personal touch to be greeted by Andy or Chris at the end with a handshake and a 'well-done' - they clearly care about their event
The not so good: it's not flat (though only a couple of decent climbs)
Overall a great day and marathon. Date of review: October 9, 2013
In short: Great atmosphere and organisation In full: Very friendly marathon with great support all the way round. Big thanks to the man with the hosepipe. Good location for the start/finish at Chester Racecourse. Shame the 24 mile marker was so early, got our hopes up! Nice personal touch with the organisers there to meet the finishers. In short: Great Race In full: Hard to add much to what's already been said. Even get emails with Dear xxx and your name which makes it all seem personal and the handshake from the organisers at the end made it even more so.
I didn't make my sub 4 goal as I wasn't sure whether to trust the pacers so I went too quickly and sure enough they eased past at about 23 miles. Still got a pub though so happy with that.
Will certainly be back next year. Date of review: October 9, 2013
In short: Well organised, hassle free rural race In full: A great first marathon. Superbly well organised with excellent communication before and after the event. Lovely little touches like the overshoes supplied before the race. Support from the marshalls was excellent and top marks to the guy who drove back to the water station with fresh supplies when they'd run out. As a slow runner who lives in the country the route was a little too rural which made for some fairly scant support at some points on the route. But this was more than made up for by the 'local' who obligingly sprayed us with his hosepipe and the fun of running alongside a gorilla for most of the race! The racecourse finish is excellent and to run the last little bit on grass was a real treat for the feet! Overall, thrilled to have finished (had no time ambition!) and looking forward to delivering some small improvement in London in April. Date of review: October 9, 2013
In short: FANTASTIC MARATHON!!! PERFECT ORGANISATION!!! SPECIAL SPECIAL RACE!!! In full: I did this race last year and got a pb with 4.25, this year i smashed it again with 3.54! as long as you remember there are 2 main hills(18 and 24 miles) then you'll be ok and believe me,they're not that bad at all. Organisation was absolutely spot on and all i can do is agree with everything great that has already been mentioned on here,i will be back next year to do it all again. I ran with the fantastic 4hr pacers til 23 miles and i couldnt recommend running with pacers any more highly, they really do make the race more enjoyable and easy. Big thankyou to them and to all the volunteers who were top notch. Well done again Chester, you did yourself proud Date of review: October 9, 2013
