In short: Loved it, beautiful day, some challenging hills, v hot, plenty of water and still got a PB! In full: Did this race in 2003 and thought this years route was much better. Plenty of water stations which didn't seem to run out (at least not by the time I'd got to them, unlike plenty in the London Marathon!). The weather was hot but it just added to the challenge and was the icing on the cake for a great fun morning run. Date of review: June 10, 2007
In short: Hot, sunny, hilly and pretty In full: Course was certainly hillier than expected, and that evil slope that went on forever after 10 miles was a killer (physically and mentally). Downhill (a rarity!) finish was good right through the centre of St Albans even though you had to avoid a number of ditzy pedestrians. Personally I popped back to the market to buy all manner of tasty farm produce. Loved the ice lolly at the finish. Yum.
Bad points - I could have killed the 2 car drivers (one was a 4x4 - even worse) who forced you to run almost on the verge after 7 miles and stupid pedestrians. Not nice. Lots and lots of hills. The heat - Not much you can do about this in June really. Lots of water available for the whole run. Hose pipped water that the finish. Tasted manky. Date of review: June 10, 2007
In short: Hilly but enjoyable In full: A lardge number of friendly marshalls, very pretty route. Most of the route was traffic free, but the places where we had to run on the pavement were quite annoying as there was alot of people walking about. A warm event, but as it's June it'll always be warm. Will be back next year. Date of review: June 10, 2007
In short: Great organisation, with lots of marshalls and frequent water points. Interesting course through scenic countryside, quite a few hills(!) though none unbearable! I'll be back!! Well done all. Date of review: June 10, 2007
In short: Excellently organized event In full: Interesting varied course though testing. Uplifting finish.Nice medal. Always stressful getting out of the car park but otherwise great day out Date of review: June 10, 2007
In short: Boring , tediuous course and poor traffic control. In full: They changed the course from the previous year to make it more memorable in their 25th year anniversary....they certainly did that by making it far duller with even less shade than on previous years, more traffic hazards and a steep hill between 11 and 12 miles..Genious !! A massive dissapointment on a normally great and well run race Date of review: July 12, 2006
