In short: Very well organised race. A couple of fair size hills, but very quick downhill slope in last half mile. In full: I was very impressed. It was only my second half marathon, but nearlly a three minute improvement on my previous one, which was on a lot cooler day and on a less hilly course.
The hill up to Batchwood was hard, but this was made up for by the downhill finish. Very good Water Stations and Marshalling and as many have said very hice to have the Lollies at the end!
In short: Hills and Heat !!!! In full: Good race, but very hilly, there never seemed to be flat bits. Very hot too but excellent organisation with plenty of water and nice ice lolly at the end. Date of review: June 10, 2007
In short: Why is this race always hot and hilly....worth the slog!! In full: Always well organised although nearly ran into a Sunday walker at the end. A good family day out, and I will back next year for more sun-burn!! Thanks to the organiser and marshall's who always do a great job. Date of review: June 10, 2007
In short: Very very poor, in the last year I've done six half marathons, and a number of other events - will never do this one again - very badly organised from start to finish. In full: Very dissappointed with the organisation of this race. Right from the off, things didn't look good, very few pacing zones - how can you put 65 mins and 90 mins runners together ???
Open drinking cups - what's that all about ??? - and nice and warm too !!! Very little crowd or Marshall support, most of the marshalls too busy talking to each other or on mobile phones ???
Shame had to dodge pedestrians and little old Dorris's on the final mile, anybody would have thought the event actually had "organisers" - lol.
Also had same medal as the 5Km fun runners, surely half marathoners deserve a little bit more respect than that no ??? Date of review: June 10, 2007
In short: even tho i really dont like running in the heat i would do this again In full: organisation was great, big thanks for all the water - and the ice lolly at the end. Lots of marshalls too which was reassuring first time i have run it so cant compare to the previous course - it was hilly which just adds to the fun of it. Didnt get a PB - that still remains at Reading - not so hilly and much cooler being earlier in the year Date of review: June 10, 2007
In short: Weather seems to always be hot ont his one, regardless of the forecast. Top race, well organised and good family day. In full: Running in the shade of the trees helped keep the heat at bay and there were plenty of well needed water stations, well manned and stocked. Slightly annoying to catch the walkers (esp. those walking two side by side). But hey, I'll be back next year! Date of review: June 10, 2007
In short: Loved it, beautiful day, some challenging hills, v hot, plenty of water and still got a PB! In full: Did this race in 2003 and thought this years route was much better. Plenty of water stations which didn't seem to run out (at least not by the time I'd got to them, unlike plenty in the London Marathon!). The weather was hot but it just added to the challenge and was the icing on the cake for a great fun morning run. Date of review: June 10, 2007
