In short: Wet, hilly, challenging, heroic marshalls! In full: My first ever marathon, and how wise I was to pick this one. Beautiful wild scenery, extreme weather, wonderful (if sparse in places) support, heroic marshalls. Could have done with more portaloos at the start and/or more coaches with toilets on them. Otherwise what a wonderfully organised race this is. Can't wait for next year. Date of review: October 15, 2006
In short: absolutely brilliant In full: What can i say! what an experience. This was my first marathon and i really didn't know what to expect, but i can honestly say i could not have wished for a better experience.everything was so well thought out,the people were so friendly and supportive.Even the weather couldn't spoil it although it tried!I must say hello to the lady how, on leaving the same hotel in Beauly as i picked up my bag by mistake, what was the chance of that!. I hope your race was as enjoyable as mine.BIG THANKS TO ALL HELPERS without whom the event just wouldn't have been the same.... ohh just for the record my time was 3hrs 49mins. In short: Friendly atmosphere, well organised, a great event. In full: Despite the torrential rain and the climb at about 18 miles I managed a PB. A very friendly atmosphere created by fellow competitors and the brave souls who were supporting the race. The soup and baked potato at the end of the race were most welcome. Thank you to all the organisers and sponsers for making this a great event. I will be back. Date of review: October 6, 2006
In short: Fantastic event, I'm definitely coming back. In full: This was my second marathon, I ran Edinburgh earlier this year. I struggled badly with the heat in Edinburgh so the rain this weekend was welcome for me. The atmosphere out on the course was fantastic, there was a great sense of camaraderie. The course is tough but not as bad as I had feared, the dreaded hill at mile 19 won't hold so many fears when I come back next year!!
In short: My first marathon and really enjoyed it (much more than I expected to). It was hard and very hilly from mile 16 - 20 but very well organised and a beautiful area to run in - even if it did pour with rain. Date of review: October 6, 2006
In short: Inspiring In full: Thanks to the marshalls, and the TA lads - you're all obviously used to the rain- all smiles despite the grim weather! Tough course, but the reward is a quick last 6 miles. Running through Dores was the highlight, great support. Date of review: October 6, 2006
In short: Fantastic place for my first marathon- want to do another one soon! In full: I guess the people who organise the Loch Ness Marathon are aware how remote the city of Inverness is and how it can't be treated like a day trip. To compensate for this, they organise a fantastic event and make it worth runners' efforts in getting up there and staying overnight. I ran in the marathon and my wife did the 10K. We were both first-timers at the event and it left a great impression on us- will definately be back in the highlands again next year! Date of review: October 6, 2006
In short: My first marathon - definitely not my last! In full: A fantastic race with great camaraderie between runners. Many thanks to all the volunteers and supporters who braved the weather. It's a shame that the mist hid some of the scenery - I drove the course the day after and the views are stunning. Still, gives me an excuse to come back next year.
Great T-shirt as well and, unlike other races I've done, available in a generous XL size (for us 'chunky' runners).
My only gripe - can we have a pee break on the bus next year? Date of review: October 6, 2006
