In short: Smart. In full: dead friendly, run by decent folks you can tell. Just the kind of race you want to do. Not all covered in branding everywhere. Goody bag dead heavy with loads of loot and a nice glass ornament thingy to boot, but not INSTEAD of a teeshirt, AS WELL AS one!
*Slight gripe* sometimes the water stations were understocked. Date of review: July 10, 2006
In short: excellent! well organised and great support from Handy x runners In full: My first half marathon and couldn't of started with a better one!Again lots of scare mongering about the hill but not a problem! Great support from Handy xcross runners and brilliant marshalling as well as local support around the course. A definate-thank you very much Handy x runners! Date of review: July 10, 2006
In short: Very well marshalled, seemed to be someone at every corner. Mile markers clearly positoned and plenty of water and spounges. Fantastic goodie-bag at the end. The hill is much better than I thought and great to get it out of the way at the beginning, Date of review: July 10, 2006
In short: A "must do" race In full: My local half and my sixth time. With this race, Marlow 1/2 in November and Henley 1/2 in October, we in the area are a lucky lot. Great start and finish with good support on the route. Varied surface conditions. Well done once again Handy Cross Date of review: July 10, 2006
In short: 'The Hill' was a big challenge, but great to get it over with at the beginning. Fantastic goody bag! In full: Lovely start/finish area, good for friends and family that come along to support you. Friendly atmosphere, many club runners, and a man on the tannoy with a good sense of humour to get you through the last 500 metres. Well worth getting out of bed for! Date of review: July 10, 2006
In short: Great course, very well organised, most generous goody bag and race trophy ever! In full: Very different course to the one I was expecting, the hill at the start was a brilliant warm up and subsequent gradients were all very gentle (apart from that steep downhill). The weather was kind which made for good times. Very well organised, lots of water, parking, decent baggage drop etc. Date of review: July 10, 2006
In short: Superb In full: Weather kinder this year, managed to run a PB. Special thanks to the race marshalls. (thanked as many as I could on the way round) Goody bag excellent but didn't get an alarm clock in mine? Still be back next year though. Date of review: July 10, 2006
In short: Rain and hills didn't ruin the race surprisingly. It was great. In full: Wycombe was beautiful and scenic. I expected more hills & thankfully it was just really the difficult one at the start. Although the hills at the beginning were pretty horrific, the really long downhill stretch in the middle was really enjoyable. Despite the horrible weather, the people of Wycombe were still out in their front yards supporting the runners. I really enjoyed this race. Would definitely do it again and recommend it. In short: excellent race In full: This was the first time I had done Wycombe and despite all the scaremongering about 'THE hill', it wasn't too bad at all. I think though my opinion would be different if it was at the end of the course though!
The marshals were great, the local support was good despite the naff weather and the goodie bag and paperweight were brilliant value for money particularly when compared to some other races.
Will defintely come back next year. Date of review: July 9, 2006
