In short: No scenery. Cycle track - continually undulating - annoying. Nevertheless enjoyed. Marshals excellent. In full: My first 1/2 marathon. Start seemed well organised - in terms of baggage and somewhere warm to wait (there was a 15 minute delay). Start itself was a bit chaotic but maybe that's normal! Fair to say that scenery was non existent - what you can expect when running through a large town I suppose. Running surface was cycle track the whole way. Trouble was that it this continually undulated (so cyclists can get through underpasses). Found this quite irritating as difficult to get a rhythm going. Nevertheless really enjoyed the experience. The marshalls were excellent - kept the cars away, easy to get hold of water, seemed to be loads of them and very encouraging. Will do it again next year I suspect. Good for beginners? Probably. I managed an average time of 8.28mpm which compares to 8.48mph in training - so must have been dragged by those better than myself.
In short: Mildly undulating course with excellent organisation In full: The course was mildly undulating, but the general feel was uphill from 4-10 miles....More downhills than up in the last 3 Stewarding and organisation was excellent; a nice race,I'll definately be back next year..well done Spartans!
