In short: Another AMAZING Chester Marathon In full: Well the organisers and volunteers have pulled it off again (thanks Andy and Chris!). It was another superbly organised, well supported and incredibly fun marathon. It's not flat but the gentle rolling hills give as much as they take. The local support is brilliant and there's always a great buzz at the start and the finish. Unmissable. Date of review: October 16, 2013
In short: Incredibly well organised race - before, during and after In full: My first marathon and it was a fantastic introduction. It was brilliantly well organised, from the entry submission to the portaloos all the way round. Running out of water at one stop, not so great, and there's nothing they could do about the weather (how hot?!?!!?), but everything else was brilliant. Has made me want to run more organised races, something which I've avoided like the plague previously! Date of review: October 16, 2013
In short: Fantastic day In full: A truly fantastic day-one of the best. Done over 100 marathons at over 60 venues and this ranks towards the very top. Absolutely everything works so well, very good pre race info and such a special atmosphere on race day and loads of extra little touches you don't get elsewhere. The marshalls/volunteers were excellent and very encouraging all the way round. The only thing you could possibly fault was the 24 mile marker being nowhere near where it should have been but that is me being very very picky. Top class event-already entered for 2014. Well done to everyone involved-brilliant !
In short: Fantastic race with excellent organisation, do it! In full: My first marathon and I'm glad I went with Chester, the guys who organise this do a fantastic job. Date of review: October 16, 2013
In short: Best organisation I have ever seen, obvious it is organised by runners. In full: The organisation was superb, at the start there was great baggage store, lots of toilets, foot covers to protect trainers on the wet grass, drinks available and friendly people on hand if you had any questions. The drinks stations en route were so well organised and laid out, I have never seen anything like it. I got a PB and was very excited at the end, it was made all the more special by the fact that someone was there to personally congratulate me as I came over the line, it was as if they knew how pleased I was. The commentary was also good and there was great support along the route. Before the race, I had said no more marathons for me, after London 2014 but I think I may be back next year and Chester may become my annual autumn marathon. Date of review: October 14, 2013
