In short: A superb race/weekend experience which I can warmly recommend. In full: A tough race, but hugely rewarding. Superb baggage handling facilities/coach drop offs. Really impressive water stations, liberally stocked with water/energy drinks & bars/gels/fruit etc -puts other races to shame in this respect. Crowd support in Inverness a little sparse, but enthusiastic, and I was a little underwhelmed with the quality of the medal, but they are just minor moans. If you combine this with a couple of days in the highlands, you have the perfect race weekend package. Don't be put off by how far you have to travel to get there - just go there and do it. Strongly recommend and would do it again. Date of review: October 4, 2005

In short: Move over London In full: I was so surprised how good this marathon was. Water station well spread out but at the right distances. People so friendly. Conditions amazing. London might have Big Ben and London Bridge but Loch Ness blows them all away. Date of review: October 4, 2005

In short: Highlight was red squirrel running in front of me at 11.5 miles. Wished they had toilets after 16.5 miles! In full: First marathon ever (IMNZ doesn't count). Loved the scenery, loved the old lady walking her dog in town asking me how far I;d run and loved the French runners shouting allez as I rang over the bridge. Great first marathon course, shame about my knackered ankle which meant I couldn't go as fast as hoped. Date of review: October 4, 2005

In short: My first marathon and this has got me hooked!! In full: I somehow managed to cross the finish line with a smile on my face and I have to admit that the sense of achievement was only the half of it. The remainder of that 'feel good' factor I can only put down too the organisation, atmosphere, and location of the event. I overheard a few runners mention that the 'slightly undulating' description was misleading but what do you expect when you run this sort of distance in the Scottish Highlands.
