In short: Really enjoyed my home city half marathon - and got a PB. In full: Well organised on the day. Great marshalling. Lots of noise and encouragement from the cadets at the water stations. Fairly flat course except for the last mile. The level of crowd support varied around the course. I enjoyed it and would definitely do it again. Date of review: October 10, 2011

In short: A great City Half Marathon In full: An extremely well organised and supported race. Couldn't fault the organisation, the facilities or the marshalling. Some nice touches like the energy drink and gels at mile 11 - much needed and appreciated. Loved the support and atmosphere as I ran the last 2 miles back into town. Mde the pain more bearable. The locals were great.
A nice course with a few steady inclines. The last mile was a killer. No dodgy goodie bags either. Just everything you wanted and need - a nice medal, t-shirt, banana and water at the finish.
I really enjoyed today, easily my favourite event so far and a PB bagged in the process.
Just one moan - banning MP3 players and threatening people with disqualification was a bit over the top. I have ran plenty of City events with an i-Pod and never been subjected to this petty ruling before. Date of review: October 9, 2011

In short: Well-organised, fairly flat, ideal for first timers In full: My first 1/2 marathon and a great experience. The marshalling was fantastic, organisation spot on and support good all around the course but especially at the finish. The course is a nice mix of city streets & country parks but the last mile is a bit of a killer, all up hill! I'll definitely be back next year, but in the meantime my appetite is now whetted for for a couple more halfs in preparation... Date of review: October 9, 2011

In short: Wonderful city half marathon In full: Id like to start my review by saying, well done Leicester, you did yourself proud today. Having raced a number of half marathons, this was definitely my favorite. The 13.10 miles flew by as we were treated to beautiful parks, riverside runs and a motivating band of drummers in the city centre at mile 11. This is an undulating race, no major climbs except in the final mile, just steady inclines. Brilliant atmosphere and superb event. Date of review: October 9, 2011

In short: Not a great marathon course, but fantastic marshalls and well organised In full: When I entered this marathon, the official race site said it was a 2 lap race. It wasn't. It ran with the half marathon for 6 miles and then disappeared into the countryside for us to play chicken with a number of bemused motorists.
Didn't really enjoy the course, but I had a great run. I thought the marshalls were some of the best I've met at any race.
Glad I ran this, but won't be coming back. Been there done that and got the rather cheap T-shirt. Date of review: October 9, 2011

In short: An undulating course. Marshalls were excellent, as were the other runners and spectators. Thanks to the marshall handing out jelly babies at 23 miles, much appreciated. Date of review: October 9, 2011

In short: Well organised flatish city half In full: This was the 4th time I've done this and whilst it was by far my slowest due to my lack of preparation I think the organisation etc was the best so far. Support from Marshalls and the public was very good and thought the finish was very slick, medal/T-shirt/bannana/chip removal (big contrast with Cov the week before). My wife had a bad time after feeling ropey early on, but she is full of praise for the support from all the Marshalls and the public and the announcer at the end who praised her smile. So special thanks to everyone who gave Clare encouragement, it was really appreciated. Date of review: October 9, 2011

In short: Great atmosphere, really friendly, flat apart from last mile. In full: This was my first half marathon and I loved it. It was well organised and definitely suitable for all different abilities. Some of the marshals were a. It quiet but then again, some were amazing. I particularly loved the lad marshalling at St Margarets Church, which was about 10-11 miles, he was practically singing!! The public were great and the atmosphere was really encouraging. The only real gripe, at a push, was there was no entertainment for spectators in Victoria Park. My parents came along to watch and look after my two young children and I had breezily promised them 'all sorts of stalls and bouncy castles etc'. Having said that, they enjoyed it anyway and walked into town with the kids. Despite running on some of the main roads, I had no gripes with the course at all. What else can you expect with a city marathon? There were some lovely parts to it, for example Watermead Park. On the whole, a brilliant race! Date of review: October 9, 2011

In full: This is an interesting race, a rather dull first few miles but some nice bits around the park, however some crazy twists and turns, up and down subways, up and and down kerbs in the last few miles really slows it down and loses your rhythm. I like the band in the centre towards the end and it is good value when compared to the Robin Hood, just a shame about miles 8 to 12!

In short: Pleasant half marathon. In full: Having done the full a couple of years ago I decided to have a shot at completing the half this year. The event had grown a bit in those two years and was a really nice run even if there were very very minor bottlenecks at the start as people started too far forward or too far back.
The sections through the parks are brilliant and coming back through High Cross with the marching band echoing from ahead was very cool. The final hill did drag again but seeing as i love a nice incline i won't moan n was able to pick a couple of places up.
Does beat Nottingham for value comfortable but hasn't quite got the atmosphere of that one.
Lovely day out though and I am sure that i'll be back doing one or the other in the future. Date of review: October 9, 2011
