In short: Hard. Very hard. Great views. Bargain price. Well organised. Did I mention it's hard? In full: Well done KCAC for a great race. It's very well organised (yes, numpties like me need more signs en route as I did over 27 miles due to wrong turns) and it's a complete bargain. I've never been so well fed at any event - biscuits, cakes, parkin (v. nice!)on the way round, hot soup, tea & more cake at the finish. All for a tenner! As for the race itself - yes it's as hard as they say - a guaranteed PW. But that's part of the joy of it. Forget the time and enjoy the challenge and the scenery. Try it yourself next year (or 'just' do the half on the same day). Fabulous run in near-perfect weather conditions. Date of review: September 11, 2007

In short: Great scenary, challengng and tough, recommended In full: I have decided to avoid road marathons and stick to a few off road marathons a year whilst training is on 'tickover' between serious ultras. Can't recommend this highly enough. Great scenary friendly competitiors, all too fast for me but what the hell... No signs to help drivers find the event centre. Leave lots of spare time or plan carefull multimap/sat nav. Thanks Charlie Date of review: September 10, 2007

In short: Brilliant race in wonderful countryside In full: Organisation much improved on last year, no complaints. Definitely 'part-marked', must have run 27 miles (top tip, don't assume the person in front knows where they are going!). Really enjoyed it, great weather, really good course, nice mix of terrain and wonderful scenery. Highly recommended! Date of review: September 10, 2007

In short: Great intro to off road racing In full: Very sociable, obviously harder than a road race but not a full on fell race. Loved the food at the end. Good organisation. My first off roader and I will be back for more. Date of review: September 10, 2007

In short: Very challenging race, but well worth the effort, made all the better by the weather. In full: Good value race, with plenty of water and snacks on the way round. Course was partially marked but still feel you'd need to recce it or run with someone who knows the course. Marshalls were very friendly and can't complain about the facilities back at the finish. Good day, if not slightly painful! Date of review: September 10, 2007

In short: Worth the journey, great day out but don't look for a PB! In full: The mainly off road course is a real challenge of both fitness and navigation skills. Good event with some nice touches. Date of review: September 9, 2007

In short: great views, great marshalls, great snacks In full: Had a really good day, did the full and was right at the back but didn't mind. There was a lack of water though, i hid some half way round and was really glad. Great food along hte way for the marathon at least and really nice friendly marshalls. I agree about the signing, I come from round there and felt the instructions relied on local knowledge. I reccied the second half the week before and was glad as the field was sparse by then.
Thanks very much though - what a great day! Date of review: September 12, 2006

In short: Perfect way to spend a Sunday! In full: Thanks to the organisers and the volunteers on drinks stations and in the kitchen. It was tricky in parts to find the way but this just added to the fun for me. I did the full, it was my 5th marathon and as special as all the others in it's own way. Just over four hours of enjoyment (?!) for £10. Date of review: September 11, 2006
