In full: fantastically organised, discounted day car parking, free shower in the gym across the road, great atmosphere! heard the drums from the tunnel, made my heart thump and very uplifting!! marshalls and spectators were brilliant support, had no energy at 15 miles to open a gel, marshall helped, thank you! an adrenaline rush on the Strand towards the finish and just followed the line for the food, water, medal and tshirt, and the return of my kit bag, which was another great idea! my 2nd marathon, undecided on a 3rd as yet!

In short: the drums, the drums, the drums, oh and a brilliant race!
In full: My local marathon and what an amazing race. For me it was perfect, I wouldn't change a thing. Big thanks to the organisers, the volunteers, the supporters and all the runners who combined to make this a truly memorable day. A must-do marathon. Oh, and the Batala drum band were inspirational!

In short: Brilliant day! My first marathon and won't be my last!
In full: A fabulously well organised race, with a real community feel. The start in the park was great, amazing choir, brilliant baggage drop off, it was a pleasure to wait for the start.

Well spaced runners from the start, no tripping over or weaving round people necessary. Loved the Wirral side and the New Brighton run in the sun. I echo all that's been said about the tunnel exit- I heard the drums several minutes before seeing the exit and felt myself start to fill up!

Liverpool side was tougher than a tough thing, but the support from the crowd was amazing. Upper Parliament Street hurt on the way up, but I loved it on the way down!!

Vowed at mile 22 never to run another! Crossed the line and am planning to be back next year for sure.

If you're a first time marathoner wondering if this is the one for you, it's a yes from me for sure!!

In full: From receiving the race pack to the finishing line, the organisation was superb. Part of the excitement on the day was travelling over to Birkenhead Park on the shuttle bus.Plenty of toilets at the start, but very minor niggle was it was muddy under foot to get to them.
I was a bit concerned before the race about running the 10k at the same time, but it didn't seem to hinder me at all, if people where realistic with their race pace, whether it was the marathon or 10k it shouldn't make one bit of difference.
The crowds were fantastic, living up to expectations. Definitely helped having my name on my shirt, having my name called out kept me going through some difficult spells. Like everyone else thought the drums coming out of the tunnel was inspirational. The only thing I would change or improve for next year, would be, to have something similar on Parliament Hill (or at least some entertainment) to increase the crowd numbers. I had stationed my own 'fan-club' there, knowing it would be a killer at the 18 mile point.
Big thanks to Alan who has been a regular on the forum answering many of the same questions (info was nearly always in the pack), for his organisation of the event and the many, many volunteers along the course
This was my first marathon and will definitely be coming back next year to try for another PB.

In short: Fabulous race, won't be my last Liverpool Marathon!
In full: Loved it! The organisation was great - plenty of marshalls, plenty of drinks and lots of way markers. I finished towards the back and the small t-shirts had all gone but that just means that I'll have to be faster next year!

In short: Ran it, Lived it, LOVED IT!
In full: My first marathon so I don't have much as a point of reference but in some ways that could have made it even harder for the race to live up to the hype!

For a newbie the race pack sent out about a month in advance was phenomenal, answering just about every question I had thought of (and lots I hadn't).

There's already been plenty said about the race and the crowds that I there really is little I can add (but I will never forget the goosebumps on hearing the drums come through the ground in the tunnel).

The T-shirt and medal are superb and representative of the degree of care, thought and attention that has been turned to every detail in this event.

Some may complain it's expensive and maybe it is but for an event that effectively closes much of a city centre, provides THAT exit from the tunnel AND gives you mementos that you will treasure for longer than the drive home I'd say it offers cracking value.

In short: A superb City Marathon
In full: Brilliant race,A must for all those who want to do their first big race. I had run Chester in 2011, and opted for Liverpool this year. Enjoyed the point to point run, the crossing from the city to the Park was all part of the fun, and the race itself smooth and enjoyable. Wasnt expecting the reception as i exited the tunnel....`Wow`...it has to be experienced to be believed. I honestly thought i must have been running close to a celebrity...until i realised the cheering was for every runner ! The people of Liverpool never fail to impress me with their warmth and humour, and this pulses through each part of the race.

Varied road/paths and tracks around the parks have drawn comments of it not being a PB potential...and `Parliament Hill`....well it serves it purpose BOTH ways for a pace leveller on the way up, and a nice speedy finish towards the finish on the way down, so no complaints here, plus with a drinks station half way up...honestly...can you complain ?

Mann Island is the perfect finishing point, you will feel as grand and as tall as the Liver Building itself as you collect your medal.
